Although I have had a copy of this album for years I have neglected to give it a review. These two LPs (volumes 1 and 2) were recorded in 1967 and 1968 following the original "Indo-Jazz Suite" a couple of years earlier. The personnel is not widely different and features the jazz musicians Joe Harriott (alto), Shake Keane (tpt), Kenny Wheeler (tpt) Pat Smythe (pno), Coleridge Goode (bs), Allan Ganley or Jackie Dougan on drums together with Indian musician John Mayer (b. Calcutta, vln) who composed the nine featured tracks. There are also indian instruments: sitar, tambura and tabla. A flautist is also present. The number of musicians on each track is ten (a double quintet) the personnel varying slightly between the two recording sessions. Partly because of the nature of Indian classical music, its improvised structure and modal themes, but more because of the dedication and sympathy, indeed empathy, between the musicians, especially the leaders Harriott and Mayer, the whole enterprise is one of complete success. A fascination and enjoyable album. Thoroughly recommended.

This is an excellent producr - well recorded, well mastered and well produced. This follows o from the surper Indo Jazz Suite ahead of the two LP one one CD from the late 1960s. There has been no expenses spared in this re-issue. The seller has sold a perfect teproduction with no fauls at all, so tis ieal for a collecyor of Jazz of the era and needs to fill thei collection.A very good prodoct overall from a great seller. .
