John Cage one of the most amazing creative and imaginative Americans ever in the history of classical music. Actually I don't think of him as a composer as much as I think of him as a philosopher. What I learned from his creative mind was the ability to look at any situation and see it as a composition. Audio or visual. John cages perceptions changed my life.

...I do not believe I have actually gotten up to skip past an offending song more than twice, but with this one, I did it THREE TIMES on a single disc. Awful. Nonsense. Do not believe the hype. And I do dearly love the experimental and the extreme, (I have three sets of Cage's sonatas and enjoyed the ones presented here), and yes, there is some engaging stuff amidst the spoils but in general, and in particular, on cacophonous disc one, music, for me, totally lacking in intellectual or emotional content. On and on and on, clanging and banging and plinging and ringing and again, my disc-shelf is laden with Stockhausen and Boulez and Scelsi and, well you guys know the rest. Love Cage's piano work but at least for me, not a whole lot in this batch to latch onto. Ka-klang!
