i bought "first taste" on vinyl back in the 70s and loved it. over the decades i've kept my eyes open for it because i enjoyed potliquor's music so much. so to my delight, it is out on cd. this is their first of four releases. the music is great rock/blues. i enjoy most of the songs, but there is one that has haunted me for 30 years. it's their musical rendition of poe's "the raven". the raven is brilliantly interpreted in a rock format. beautifully sung, that song i've been humming to myself for years on end. that alone is worth the price of the cd. the rest of the music is excellent too. never heard the rest of their music, but now out on cd, i plan to buy them all.
Years ago, in the late 60s and early 70s, ZZ Top, Trapeze, and Potliquor used to play at a closed-down supermarket turned music club called Of Our Own in Houston, Texas. Trapeze and Potliquor never made it big like ZZ Top. Potliquor has a Southern Rock sound that I enjoy to this day.
Where are they now? Gotta love those boogie-woogie gospel feelin' blzzz. So much better than listenin' to them rap-dap-crap... what this young generation call music. Musical history lessons are needed for the youngin's in our 2000+ era.
