A brilliant live performance from one of the greatest, yet underrated, and unknown performers!!! A superb album that is just filled with raw energy, yet the riffs are tight, and the subtle nuances that Rory is able to create are fantastic! From original classics, such as 'Laundromat', 'Going To My Home Town', and "In Your Town", to covers of "Hoodoo Man", "Pistol Slapper Blues", and " I Could've Had Religion" Rory treats each song with special reverence. The energy just oozes from this album, and the enthusiasm of the crowd is infectious! Whether you are new to Rory or an old fan, this album is a treat for all!

A great live album from a legendary guitarist. "Live In Europe" is arguable superior to Rory's other live masterpiece "Irish Tour '74" if for no other reason than it has ZERO KEYBOARDS. This allows the listener focus better on the jaw-dropping guitar playing. The rhythm section is pretty great too.
What makes a good concert recording? One criteria is that you can share the excitement the audience no doubt felt on the actual night and this recording allows exactly that, listen after listen. There is a great presence to the recording. It doesn't seem to have been overly tampered with afterwards (if at all) and you can almost feel the sweat flying off Rory's brow as he tears off those blistering notes. Many, many years ago a friend suggested I come to a concert with him at The Hordern Pavilion here in Sydney. I didn't know the artist but I trusted his judgement and duly went. What happened next was a turning point. Halfway through the concert I found myself standing on my seat shouting and cheering in exultation as a master musician poured out note after note of amazement. Exciting, joyous stuff and I swear, I was up on that seat without even realising I had stood up! The artist? Obviously Rory Gallagher and this recording captures a strong sense of the excitement we all felt in that hall that night. This was always a great album and the addition of extra tracks here makes it even more so. No disappointment from me and I doubt there will be any from you. If you want to experience skill, craft, art and magic in one joyous package of fun pick this up and play it loud.
