Buscemi (known to his friends and close family as Dirk Swartenroekx) is the kind of producer that likes his music to be sexy and fun. Over the last few years, he has been experimenting with colourful and vibrant fusions of house, funk, Latin rhythms and drum & bass. Our Girl In Havana his second long player, continues to obsess with all things percussive. Utilising frenzied Afro-Brazilian rhythms on the opener "Spooky Samba", Buscemi then descends to vocal, tribal house flexes like "Calling All Drama Queens" and "The Salon Section". Not one to stay still or to encourage predictability, he then dives into tough, funked-up breakbeat: "First Flight To London", atmospheric Bossa Nova, spicy drum & bass and lazy, swaying house ("Ramiro's Theme"). To end the album, Buscemi has added a cover of Berntholer's "My Suitor". Although undeniably diverse, this document has a thread of warm sensuality running through it, making it a real pleasure to listen to.--Paul Sullivan
