We’ve Just Only Begun”からImpressions時代の名曲”People Get Ready”だと思う。
Curtis Mayfield

An Intimate Experience
I loved this live offering by one of the greatest poets this world has known. It has a very intimate feel and setting about it that i find refreshing. I know some people were disappointed in the fact Curtis stripped his band down to just the basics, guitar, bass, drums & congas. I, however, loved that change up as it allows you to really concentrate on the poetry being delievered for your enjoyment.
The message isn't clouded or convoluted but straightfoward, raw and fine. His band included some of the greatest session players Chicago has to offer, so the sound was heavy enough to be enjoyed. This is the type of show that was very popular back in the 1960's and 1970's and one which would find renewed acceptance and popularity as did Blues/Jazz music, at least where I live, did in the 1980's and 1990's by using the same live setup. It's a great way for fans of a particular artist/band to have a more relaxed and fun experience with their music.
There was one curious selection, "We've Only Just Begun" made popular by The Carpenters. However, I love that song, as apparantly Curtis did also, so, it really wasn't a big deal to me and I enjoyed Curtis adding his flavor to the tune. I do wish there was more of the work he did with The Impressions as I think they were one of the greatest groups every to record and their music, to this day, still does not receive the credit and overall appreciation it should as many artists have cited it's influence on their music.
This album was an overall wonderful experience and took me back to a time when music and thought had so much more meaning. People were challenging the establishment & producing the music of the revolution. It was both an exciting and painful time for many, however, Curtis Mayfield's music helped us make it thru! This was also the 2nd in string of wonderful albums released in the early to mid 1970's that would establish his solo career and help to make him one of the few artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame as both a member of a group and as a solo artist.

Le live le plus intimiste
Quelle injustice
