Radio Tokyo

A must-own power pop / rock pop album
I've deliberately held off reviewing this for a couple of weeks to make sure that the sheen of a newly discovered power pop / pop punk gem didn't cloud my judgement. As someone who grew up on late 90s / early 2000s pop punk this is exactly the kind of album I wish I'd known about and owned back then.
The songs are all fantastically written and absolutely crammed with hook after hook after hook as well as sing-a-long anthemic stadium-filling vocal parts and harmonies that come together to create songs that once you've heard a couple of times, just worm around your head for weeks on end. It's not been out of my car's CD player for about a month now, and I'm not even remotely bored of this album yet.
I bought this along with the other M3 album "Hey! Album", but this is just streets ahead in every department (although the other one does have the band's strongest single "Freak of the Week"). The influences of the earlier 80s glam metal band Southgang shine through in a couple of songs (especially Radio Tokyo) but for the most part this is rock guitar and vocal hook driven power pop that there simply isn't enough of. THe closest comparison would be something like American HiFi playing Blink 182 style songs written by Fountains of Wayne... or something like that!
I'm actually surprised that this album didn't make the band; any of the first 10 songs could be a single, but from what I've read the label refused to push them, which is a massive shame, as it's one of the best albums I've discovered in years.

My God, this is a great album! It's like someone discovered and released a long-lost Queen album from their 70s heyday. Butch has never made the same album twice, and I at least like all of his work. But of all his albums, this is the one I've probably listened to the most. Unfortunately, about the only thing he still plays live from it is Cigaretter Lighter Love Song, which is a great song, but only scratches the surface of the greatness that is Readysexgo. Supernatural Blonde contains one of the greatest lines ever sung in rock music: "I was looking for love in all the wrong places. Giving Abraham Lincolns to a stripper with braces. She thinks I'm in love and I know that sucks. Cause she's leaving with the DJ and my twenty-five bucks." Rock'n'roll poetry at its best!

A lost classic

One of the great lost melodic pop/rock albums of all time, this is packed full of earworm hooks and choruses. It'll appeal to fans of everything from Cheap Trick to later Social Distortion to Danger Danger. Their hardest record to get, but the best by a country mile.

I picked up Hey Album after watching Marvelous 3 perform on HBO's Reverb and was hooked. This album is a gem from 1st song to last.
It's really weird listening to Marvelous 3, you can hear hints of all sorts of influences; at one time they sound alittle like "Queen" and on other cuts maybe alittle "Elvis Costello" with some Dokken thrown in (ie. I'm losing you). The great thing is that you can hear the influences, but it's still very unique sounding and you can really appreciate the maturity of this album.
I really think Marvelous 3 is the "Cheap Trick" of the 2000's, they are just that GOOD!
BUY THIS DISC! You will be hooked. It's Marvy's world and we are just living in it....
