特に#1"The wonders at your feet"、#5"Haven"、#8"Ego drama"あたりが好き。

"Haven" is such an amazingly godlike masterpiece from Dark Tranquillity and it's also in my honest opinion the most underrated album that the band has ever released in their career as well. Picking up where their heavily experimental masterpiece "Projector" left off, "Haven" finds Dark Tranquillity blending gothic, industrial, and melodic death metal ever so flawlessly. The music on this album is just absolute pure melodic death bliss as it is with any other DT release, and the production is also very crisp and clean throughout as well. Every song on this album is chock full of inescapable melodies and atmospheric keyboards that merge perfectly and seamlessly with the band's trademark melodic death metal attack (i.e. tight, crushing, powerful dual-guitar riffs, pulverizing and dazzling drum beats, brutal, raspy, powerful death growling vocals, etc.) Vocalist Mikael Stanne is in fine form with his amazingly powerful, fearsome, and booming death growls that really give each song such an epic feel throughout. I just love how Stanne belts out each lyric with such passion, emotion, and power. He is truly one of the best vocalists in the genre, no questions asked. Meanwhile, the twin-guitar attack of Niklas Sundin and Martin Henriksson is also very top notch here as the twosome create an always impressive abundance of tight, powerful, and heavily crushing riffage as well as the beautifully epic and addictingly inescapable melodies that DT are so well known for incorporating in their sound. Elsewhere, we also have bassist Michael Nicklasson delivers excellent bass lines that are very complex and original and guaranteed to get your pulse pounding with excitement, and of course drummer Anders Jivarp just dazzles and dominates throughout by laying out pulverizing yet very intricate drum beats and cymbal crashes, and he also makes some good use of the double bass pedals when necessary as well. But what really makes "Haven" such an amazing album is the keyboard work courtesy of Martin Brandstrom (who makes his debut with Dark Tranquillity here). There's certainly no question that Martin's keyboards definitely bring out the life in the guitars, bass, and drums throughout every song here on this album, and they really give such an aurora of darkness around the music here.
The album's amazingly stunning set opener, "The Wonders at Your Feet" kicks off with some wonderful keyboard notes before thrusting into a barrage of surging, charging riffs and crashing drums that power their way throughout alongside a sea of dazzling keyboard effects that just dazzle and delight through this incredible song, and Stanne's growls in this song are also in full force as well, and the song is also highlighted by a awesomely melodic guitar solo too, plus an awesome chorus as well. An epic opening track and also one my favorite songs off the album as well. Following that, we have "Not Built to Last" which is highlighted by some fast, powerful, and infectious machine-gun riffing and pounding, rattling double bass drums, and emotional-filled, booming death growls, and is also highlighted by more nice keyboard effects that fill in the atmosphere so nicely and perfectly in this song as well. Another amazingly epic tune. Track three, "Indifferent Suns" is yet another brilliantly epic and melodic tune (and my favorite song here) that features an awesome bass riff, along with more of Brandstrom's unbelievably catchy and memorable keyboard and electronic effects throughout, plus some excellent melodic guitar work and more great drumming, and also included is a memorable and powerful chorus that will remain stuck in your head for days as well. The fourth cut, "Feast of Burden" is also another huge standout song that is highlighted by some fast, intense harmonized riffing, along with thundering bass and drums, and deep, furious and intense growls from Stanne, plus the song also includes a brief, splendid ambient, synthesized beat rhythm around the 52 second mark before the heavy guitars come back in full force several seconds later, and it also features a beautifully infectious and shimmering piano melody around the 1:45 mark as well too.
Moving forward, we have the album's title track, "Haven" which keeps the goodness going as it boasts addicting, spiraling and wailing harmony lead guitar riffing and deft, rattling, thundering double-timed drumming, and epic keyboard flourishes in the beginning before slowing things down during the song's soft, slow, and melodic driven verses which include some whispering-like growls from Stanne until he finally erupts with his deep and ferocious, heavy roars especially during the song's chorus which also includes the awesome opening harmony riffs from the song's beginning as well. Another great track. The sixth track, "The Same" is a slower paced, yet very solid and melodic driven number that is heavily bolstered by heavy, crunching, yet melodic riffing and epic, chilling symphonic-inspired keyboards, and steady, yet thunderous beats and crashing cymbals, plus more of Stanne's incredibly powerful and deep growls throughout, plus the song also includes some beautifully soaring guitar melodies being thrown in for good measure as well. Meanwhile, following that is track seven, "Fabric" which is yet another slow paced, yet brilliantly epic, dark and melodic number that features more powerful, melodic-driven riffage, plus some nice Middle Eastern parts, along with more incredibly beautiful and chilling orchestral-like keyboard work, plus steady, pounding drums, and bone-chilling growls throughout, and also highlighting this amazing song is a very powerful and memorable, anthemic-like growl-along chorus that will guaranteed to stay stuck in your head for days. Another one of my favorite songs. Next up, we have track eight, "Ego Drama" which starts off with a nice clean guitar and piano intro before thrusting into a burst of melodic death goodness complete with meaty, melodic, chugging riffage and pounding, crashing drums, along with Stanne's unmistakably powerful growls. The song is also highlighted by a beautiful melodic passage around the 2:16 mark featuring some nice piano keys, humming bass, plus some neat whispery growls, and some wonderfully soaring melodic guitar leads before the heaviness resumes at the 3:17 mark. Another excellent song this one is.
The album's following cut, "Rundown" is also yet another remarkably brilliant and blisteringly melodic track which borderlines on heavy, blistering and bone-crunching riffs and addicting melodic leads, along with some great piano key flourishes, and stomping, pulse-rattling double bass drum work, and booming, heavy growls and roars, plus on an added note, this song is also home to a beautifully melody-drenched, and awesomely soaring guitar solo which is thrown in for good measure as well. Afterwards, we have track ten, "Emptier Still" which is the only track on the album in which Mikael Stanne showcases his brilliantly impressive clean, deep, baritone melodic crooning mixed in with his ferocious, guttural death growls, and this song is also highlighted by more catchy keyboard and electronic flourishes and monstrous, thundering guitar riffs, and deft, steady, and thunderous drum beats to boot. Definitely another one of my favorites. Then finally after that, we have the album's final track, "At Loss for Words" which is an incredibly awesome closer and is also the longest song on the album (clocking in at 6 minutes and 42 seconds). After starting out with a dreary, melodic intro that includes some clean melodic guitar notes followed by some pounding bass lines along with some electronic effects and the drums suddenly kick in, the song then adopts some fast, speedy machine-gun-like riffs along with some more faster, energetic mid-tempo drumming and Stanne's harsh, emotional filled growls, and the song is also further highlighted by some amazingly beautiful and haunting piano keys fused in with the awesome, melodic guitar riffing and drumming as well, plus the song also concludes on a rather sad note with some beautifully sad and echoing piano keys and dreary, clean guitar notes to close things out.
All in all, "Haven" is simply put an all around incredibly amazing melodic death metal masterpiece in every sense of the word. I mean, there's really no other words to describe how much I love this album, even though it is their most underrated album in the entire Dark Tranquillity discography in my honest opinion as I mentioned earlier, but there's no question it is truly one the band's finest albums, and is also one of the best melodic death metal albums you'll ever hear. Trust me, I've been listening to this album almost on a daily basis ever since I bought it back in November just last year, and as a big fan of DT, I really wish I would've gotten it much sooner that I should've. Anyways, "Haven" has definitely got it all: Amazing musicianship, brilliant songwriting, sharp, solid and clean production, incredible heaviness and melody, and a dark atmospheric mood all throughout this amazing work of pure melodic death metal art. Bottom line, if you're a fan of Dark Tranquillity, melodic death metal, or if you just love metal music in general, then "Haven" is certainly an absolute must have in your collection...Buy it now!!! HORNS UP!!! \m/ \m/

Un de mes album de Dark Tranquillity.
La première chanson "The Wonders at Your Feet" vaut à elle seul l'achat de cet album.
