ここに辿り着いた人、色々な人種がありえるんだろうね。
Salsa好き、Latin Jazzフリーク、Brazil系クラバー。
まぁ、どれでも良くて、試聴して気に入れば買えば良いだけのこと。
Amazonだと試聴可なのは全部じゃないけど、MP3.comだと全ていけるど。

Salsaの話で恐縮ですが、１曲目は03年の大阪のイベントでフランキーマルティネスが使ってたね。
「ほほう、またCubopかい」と思ったね。
Jungle Fantastiqueも、その前の年のパフォにつかってたHar-You Percussion GroupもCubopからリリースされているからね。
フランキーが使う前は全然メジャーじゃなくて、知る人ぞ知るキラーチューンって感じだったのにね。今となってはクラブでかけるのも気が引けるよね。

ラテン／ヴィブラフォン奏者の1958年作だが、これが58年？というほどスタイリッシュな作品。ジャケットからして、既に名盤の予感を示していたりするのだが、まさにこれはそれに当てはまる。さまざまなミュージシャンやＤＪからリスペクトされるのも納得の内容だ。ラテンのムードをベースにはしつつも、ジャジーで現代的なアレンジで聴く者を暑い空間よりも、むしろひんやりとした涼しげな空間へと誘うところがすごい。クラブで踊っている人にも心地よく、また踊り疲れた人にも、これがかかってたら映えるだろうなという感じの適度なクールさがたまらない。マティーニとか似合うそんな音楽。

Wow, what a gem ! So happy I accidentally heard about this. The only CD available, apart from the vinyl (yes, still need to get me a record player, and with this kind of music around on vinyl only, it's just a matter of time). The combination of rock solid rhythm with the beautiful resonance of the vibraphone, accompanied by bass and piano, playing classics as well as original tunes, is quite exotic'ly unique and top quality.

Originally released in 1958 with a very poor sound quality, CuBop records have remastered this incredible Latin Jazz classic. Several excellent tracks including African fantasy and Kon-Tiki, both classics from the Talkin' Loud sessions at Dingwalls, need I say more?

This has got to be one of the hottest Latin recordings that I've heard. The percussion
is always there whether in the background or as a solo maintaining a constant groove
that transports you to an idyllic paradise where everyday vexations dissolve like mist
rising from a lagoon. The tunes still sound totally fresh, but what is really compelling
is the feeling of absolutely ingenuous hedonism that pervades the whole recording.
If you like fun and fantasy this is it.

Are you kidding? Don't bother reading my opinions; just place your order and let the magic happen. Imagine Cal Tjader doing an exotica album without Lalo poking him to do it. That's "Jungle Fantastique." I love everything Cal ever produced, but Bobby did something amazing with this effort. And it is simply fantastic. Enjoy.
