7.Drift Awayは1973年の全米ヒット曲。
これだけでも聴く価値は充分過ぎるほどあります。
ヒット曲だからどうとかそんな事抜きで、この曲は
多分、こういった洋楽をほとんど聴かない人でも、
英語がわからなくても「いい曲だ」と思うと思います。
それはやはりDOBIE GREY自身、SOULを込めて
歌っているからではないでしょうか。
SOULがあれば英語がわからなくても伝わります。
（歌詞は歌詞で渋いけど）
聴けば聴くほど味が出る、聴けば聴くほど何かを
訴えかけてくる、そんな気がします。
是非、サウンドと歌詞共に聴いてほしい１曲。
ちなみにこの曲は感じだけで言うと切ない感じです（ROCK ARTSITですが）

Dobie Gray had smash hits such as "The In- Crowd" and "Drift Away". his 1970's recordings differ from the late 1960's recordings. the 1970's recordings are ballads while the 60's recordings are fast Wilson Picket sound a like songs. if you like a bit of Al Green in your collection, Dobie Gray will go nicely.

Great to find out more about an artist that I had down as a one hit wonder for the, admittedly excellent, 'Drift Away'. Hearing his rich soulful voice on Northern Soul, pop and country songs made me wonder why he didn't have more hits. Never knew he did the original of 'The In Crowd' that Bryan Ferry covered. 'Out on the Floor' has such an infectious melody & groove; 'Honey, you can't take it back' sounds like one of The Foundations' best; and 'So High' reminds me of the Philly sound. Not so keen on some of the later stuff - a bit too AOR; also, the sound on the early tracks is a bit muddy.
