This CD really is a hidden gem. Although it's sounds a little dated with it's mid 1980's production(think Go West,Level 42 etc), Chris Eaton voice is superb, sounding like cross between Richard Marx and Cliff Richard.
Another positive is the musicians are pretty good, and were top session players of the era, Pino Palladino Bass, Nathan East Bass, Charile Morgan Drums, Michael Laudu Guitar, and there is plenty more.
What remains a mystery is why this Album never had any commericial sucess, although Chris Eaton is a Christian Based Artist, you could wouldn't notice, as the CD sounds so commercial, with no mentions of "Praise the Lord" type lyrics.
In a nutshell, if you enjoy the likes of classy sounded 80's music, you would be a fool not to checkout this superb, unknown CD.
This is another excellent CD by one of my favorite, yet underappreciated CCM artists. He's had his share of success being associated with Amy Grant, and has applied excellent BGV's for top CCM artists such as Margaret Becker. But Eaton has never received the accolades for his own stellar work. I think it's because he's a tweener. Simply .. he came about in the mid-80s when CCM was just finding itself (although I say that CCM from the early 70s to around 1985 was at its best and has never been as good .. maybe more successful commercially, but not as good nor creative) and yet never fit into the slickly produced commercial pop CCM that the secular industry has pushed merely because they saw the dollar signs in the early 90s. Say all you want about current CCM, but it doesn't hold a candle creatively to that of the early years. There was no money in CCM those days. The artists did it simply because they loved God. Chris falls into this earlier group. Incredibly creative and talented.
I've followed Chris from back in the oldies when he was part of the Mark Williamson Band and I was a Christian rock radio jock. Why he has never gotten that breakout hit in CCM, I'll never know. He is certainly one of the best vocalists around. This CD doesn't disappoint.
