It was a lonely highway in Massachusetts on a bright Sunday afternoon when I first put this CD in. I nearly wept when I heard tequesta, the first track. This is my favorite album by the group. See my standard review below.
You're dumb if you pass up on listening to these guys. My very most favorite music out there today. The drummer has extreme talent, along with the rest of the band. Please for the love of your god continue to make benchmark music such as this.
Dieses Quartett soll nicht weiterhin unrezensiert bleiben und ich picke mir mal die "Beste" (?) raus: Es dominiert ein ruhiger, von E-Piano-Sounds und Vibraphon geprägter musikalischer Fluss, unterstützt durch repitative Gitarrenthemen und ein aussergewöhlich geschicktes Schlagzeugspiel. Jazz ist das nicht, man vermeint ihn jedoch da und dort "athmosphärisch" eingebaut zu finden. Der Spannungsaufbau lebt spürbar von den ausgeklügelten Arrangements, an denen jeder seine Freude haben wird. Auf alles "Disharmonische" wird verzichtet, jedoch nicht auf Variationen der Tempi und Dynamik. Die neue CD "Chez Viking" ist weniger luftig, freiheitsliebend, bleibt gleichwohl dem Konzept treu und kann ebenfalls ans Herz gelegt werden. "Mercury Program" grub ich durch einen Querverweis zu "Tortoise" aus, welcher auch nicht falsch ist.
I could't found it in my country so I looked here, The Mercury Program is a post-rock experimental group, I've found them in Youtube and since then I'm following. Is rare disc so if you can grab one copy now.
