an interesting album with 2 outstanding cuts. one is nardis, a lovely, lyric piece with a very slight middle-eastern tone [almost reminiscent of some yusef lateef tunes]. the other is autumn leaves, which reverses the usual jazz structure in which the theme is stated and then gradually taken apart, deconstructed. instead autumn leaves here begins in fractured shards, barely recognizable and even then only at odd moments. the piece then gradually assembles itself into the familiar tune. throughout terrasson has some penetrating dissonances that have a flavor of thelonious monk.
