This performance is excellent. The dancing is superb in its accord with the music. The costumes are traditional but very elegant and well-crafted. Of course, the music is wonderfully led by Savall, whose historically accurate instrumentation gives the whole Opera an extremely lively and rich atmosphere. There is no creative director desperately trying to twist the meaning of the words or music or adding their own layer to the production. Rather, you get the sense that the goal of this performance was to faithfully reproduce the opera with as much beauty and grace as possible. In my opinion, this is the best way to enjoy L'Orfeo.

Zanasi's acting is superb, as is Arianna Savall's as Euridice. The whole cast sings very well. I particularly like Zanasi in the opening "happy" section and the clarity of the chorus's singing .

Only negative is that there are only English subtitles, not even Italian, which is really a major inconvenience. Definitely an issue with the distributors however and not the production itself.

Bellissima esecuzione, molto aderente allo spartito e quindi alla volontà del compositore. Savall e i magnifici interpreti ci restituiscono suoni, colori orchestrali ed una interpretazione magistrale. Monteverdi sarebbe soddisfatto. Grazie

Unter die Leitung von Jordi Savall wird hier eine wunderschöne Darstellung von Montiverdi's L'Orfeo aufgeführt. Die Szenenbilder von Gilbert Deflo sind durchaus sorgfältig gestaltet und frei von störende anachronistische Projektionen.
Die Sänger nehmen ihre Rollengestaltungen mit herzbewegender Ernst und künstlerischen Ausdruckskraft.
Ich bin begeistert über die Aufführung!
