New Jersey's Armor For Sleep has created a lot of noise for a band in existence for such a short time. The band's debut release, Dream To Make Believe, is one of the most anticipated records of the year in the indie/emo world. Armor For Sleep has shared the stage with Midtown, Taking Back Sunday, The Reunion Show and Recover among other scene notables. After the release of DTMB the band will be on the road for the remainder of the summer making stops across the country at key festivals nationwide.

彼らのドラマチックな曲の展開に脱帽です。友人から聞いて買ってみたのですが、これは当たりですね！スローテンポの中にもどこかスピード感溢れるナンバーが多いです。おすすめ：2,3,4,5 僕はthe ataris, midtown, new found glory, finch, fall out boy, funeral for a friend, new end originalを主に聴いています。

美しいインストでゆるやかに始まる本作。#2/dream to make believeの中で歌われるのは、夢の中ででしかリアルを感じることができない男の物語だ。
ここでいう眠りとは、即ち死のイメージだと思う。青いと表現するのがピッタリなボーカルは見事にこの憂いを歌い切り、激しいギターサウンドは現実に引き戻されることを拒否するかのようにひたすら足掻く。
これで心が動かなかったら、もうロックなんて聴くべきじゃないかも。

全体的に曲展開はエモの定番とも言える、静と動の対比にテンポの変化を組み合わせたオーソドックスなものであるが、#2,3,4の神懸りっぷりだけで、このアルバムを傑作と評価してもいいくらいだ。
エモ好きなら間違いないでしょう。

　胸に突き刺さる甘く切ないメロディーに
　柔らかくてとろけるようなエモーショナルヴォーカル
　夏みかんのような甘酸っぱい青春の香り漂う音楽世界・・・。
　
　「目を閉じればそこは夢の世界、夢の世界では君が僕のそばにいて･･･僕は現実から逃れる事が出来る・・・」
　僕はタイトル曲の「Dream to Make Believe」を初めて聴いた時、
　ただならぬ衝撃と感動に包まれました。
　なんだかとても暖かくて・・・けれど切なくて・・・とても共感できる音楽だったからです。
　歌詞もとても素晴らしくて、聴いているといつも知らない間に目頭が熱くなっています。
　今思えば僕を本格的にエモに目覚めさせてくれたのがこの一枚でした。
　キャリアこそまだ浅いけれど、
　彼らの音楽には既に人の心に多大なる衝撃を与えるほどの力があります。
　僕はもうこの作品を一生手放す事は出来ないでしょう。
　
　Last Days of Aprilが好きな人も必聴です。

2nd｢What to Do When You Are Dead」も良いけど

Way overpriced, single card sleeve with "transparent black" aka thin black vinyl. Considering its the first release of this 20 years on i'd expect a better product more in line with what to do wheb your dead. Seems abit of a money grab, disappointed.

The last song, number 11, is indispensiable. Song 1 is a 30sec. cool guitar melodic intro. 2 is 6 are good i guess or ok, 4 is pretty good, yes, but 5 & 3 are blah, while 6 is a little grating/repetitive. Song 4, "Being your Walls" is rather good, catchy, and 7 is catchy, but repetitive and slightly unremarkable. 8 is also repetitive, boring and unremarkable-- rather terrible, awful, grating (though a few riffs in it might bne redeaming): "you'll be a ghost, i'll be your dream, you'll float through me, i'll disappear..." over & over. You WILL be reacing for the skip button. Song 9, Raindrops, isn't bad at all, pretty melodious & beautiful. Heart-jerking, very catchy. Cool riffs. So it has a few good songs. But some of them are "filler." Finally, song 10 is a slow, cool song. If you download some of theses insead, get 10, & 11 & maybe 9. You might also like 4 & 2, in that order i guess. At first, the dissappointment made me think, "Uh! 3 stars, but then 1/2-way through or more, i thought , no 4 stars. So it gets better as you go through it.
I really love this group, so it hurts to say that this album was a disappointment. If you like the samples in the MP3 download section here of #11, "slip like space," then you might like it. If on a budget, just download that song & set it on repeat along with a few other awesome songs from their other albums (like "A Short Little Trip" and "Basement Ghost Singing" from their other album, called: Things To Do When Your'e Dead.
BTW, their "extended tracks" vesion of this album only has one bonus track on that other one, hardly worth the extra doe. Why couldn't they have put a flash video on it or something, like ModestMouse did? I can't wait to get more of them, even though this had some weak ones in the first half of it. Not bad for the price at all. Like track 10 says, things can't be perfect; let some things go. ...Overall, you MUST get track 11 Slip Like Space [even if you download just that MP3 for a buck, listen to the sample free on Amazon!). You will cream [like a mocha-chino]. It is unparalleled. Rifts from track 11 will drift through your head all night, so that you wil think you are in heaven & reach for the volume & repeat buttons. this alone might make it 4 1/2 stars because that one song at the end is unparalleled, making you want to surrender all of your money to them.

I would only consider buying this book if you already own a conventionally-laid out bible, since it is not really suitable as a primary reference book (although it does have a brief index, should you wish to use it as such).

However, as a means for getting into a discipline of daily bible reading, I think it's fantastic. Although it might seem extravagent to buy a chopped-up version of a book you probably already own, I've found that not having to fumble with turning up several different passages each day (and not being tempted to read more or less than the prescribed amount each day) makes a big difference to my motivation to keep going for the whole year.

The book is nicely laid out, with a good-sized font. The hard cover should protect it well, although it is a little larger than the 'Compact' title might suggest: approx 4 x 6 x 1 inches (not pocket-sized). Each day contains a chunk from each of the Old Testament, NT, Psalms and Proverbs, taking a total of about 10-15 minutes to read (more if you refer to separate commentaries and pray while you're read, of course). The entries are dated (good for discipline), but there's obviously no reason not to jump in part-way through the year.

Slight criticisms:

- Each day's verses contain one or two sentences highlighted in bold, intended for memorizing. The choices for this treatment are sometimes a little odd, and I don't really agree with the idea on principle (the editor effectively decides which of God's words are more significant than others).

- There are only one or two verses from Proverbs each day (while the Psalms are repeated twice during the year); had I been designing it, I would probably have gone through the Psalms once and Proverbs twice.

- A fabric page marker would have been nice, especially considering that the target audience of this book are those too lazy to turn up different passages in a standard bible each day!

- I won't comment on the NIV text in detail, other than to say that it's not the most literal translation (for which see NASB, NKJV, ESV). I quite like it as I find it easy to read, but you have to be aware that some of the translations are a bit loose.
