If you want to feel like you’re inside of a computer simulation, fighting a multitude of formally attired men, I'd advise listening to this album! (I hope you got the reference)

On a serious note, this album is a beautiful work of art on which establishes itself very well, it is a bold statement and can bring forth a wide spectrum of emotions. Ranging from: hopeful yet bitter sweet tracks like One and the Same, melancholic tracks like There’s Only Me and self reflecting but thrillingly intense tracks like Speed Me Towards Death / I’m Not Driving Anymore.

This album is self aware and does nothing but showcase the emotional, psychological and existentialistic journey an individual faces, each track emitting so through an intelligent execution of the portrayed subject matter.

This album has extremely good reply value; not only is it easy and enjoyable to listen all of the way through, but there are instantaneously recognisable tracks you can throw on anytime I.E. Furious Angels and Clubbed To Death.

If I where to reach and nitpick, I’d say Drinking Song is my least favourite track. And Here I’m going to get really specific - Before, I didn’t appreciate Instrumental and One and the Same being both included on the album (One and the Same adding lyrics and more / altered instruments) as they both use the same orchestral piece. (Definitely different to an extent) I felt like this was a cop out intending to act as a filler track for extra run time. However, I grew to love such false dilemma. I realised Instrumental was a beautiful stand alone piece (on which deservedly, needs to be on the album) regardless of One and the Same being an included and fantastic track / amazing outro to the album.

P.S. I cannot let my appreciation for Nothing At All to be left out; this is a beautiful track. One of the most delicate, precise and amazing intrumentals I’ve ever heard. In contrast, Rob’s dark lyrics are juxtaposed perfectly. (In my opinion, this track has the strongest vocal performance.)

I love this album. I bought it on impulse after getting the music from the Movie Matrix.. then I looked up the artists from that album, and ordered a couple of albums from those artists. This was one. I had never heard of Rob Dougan before the movie Matrix.

This has since become one of my favorite albums. one that I haven't gotten tired of yet (and I've had it for a couple of years). I love the combination of the orchestra, and his voice (which is stylistic, not "beautiful".. but it fits well). There are 2 albums, one with him singing, and one with just the instrumentals. Both are good.

There is one theme running through the voice album.. basically the theme is "love scorned". The songs describe the ups and downs, the anger/longing/hurt in this situation. After I heard this the first time, I thought, "Whoa, Dude, whatever she did to you, it must have been bad.. but, you really need to get over this!" However, if Rob is drawing from his real life, perhaps the experience was meant to be so he could create this album.

There is only one song that I skip over.. and that is the drinking song. and there are a couple of pauses/blank spots that I would rather not be there. but.. that is about the only negative thing I can say about the 2 albums.

It is also a great album to listen to when walking/running. great beat, but with enough variances to keep it interesting.

I keep looking for a new album from Rob Dougan.. but none so far. Perhaps he made a better choice in the love department, this time around. ;)

bottom line, I definitely recommend this album.
