Brut !! Brutal!!
Do not expect this to be your typical heavy metal record. It holds no aspirations for complex riffs, thunderous vocals or deep atmosphere. It has one goal and one goal only- to utterly destroy you and it does this in by either bashing your head with fast, messy and heavily distorted punk-esque riffs with hateful screaming or by crushing it with brutally slow and unimaginably heavy breakdowns.
Sometimes the titles of songs on the album can be a good indicator of what the CD sounds like and this one is a blatant example of it.
The lyrics are hateful, obscene, controversial to down right repulsive and are screamed with a voice that one cannot find in Anselmo's(the vocalist) Down or Pantera discography. My personal favorites would be 'a nail through my c*ck leaves me hanging' and 'USA is the great Satan'.
In general the sound combines heavy metal with hardcore and punk influences and it has a rough, unpolished and heavily overdriven depressive and yet highly energetic feel to it. It is definitely one of those headbanger albums and the breakdowns will have you either headbanging slower but harder or downright making horrible screw face and disgusted gurn.
The first 6 songs are all instant classics but the rest of album is just as intense. Stand-out tracks include 'Dress like a Target' , 'Waiting for the turning point' and 'Destruction of a Person'.
