Great soul sampler! Atlantic/WEA has the biggest depository of super soul on planet earth and elsewhere from which the selections on this disc are drawn. Aretha, Clarence Carter, the Bar-Kays, they’re here in choice cuts, not necessarily the biggest hits but some fine soul nuggets which deserve hearing. I first bought this on iTunes over a decade ago and wanted a physical copy (CD’s still have better sound than mp3s/mp4’s) of this import collection. I played this at a bbq and it got the people moving. Solid set.

Petite compil' bien torchée par warner uk, on y retrouve les piliers de chez atlantic et stax comme JOE TEX, ARETHA, CLARENCE CARTER, KING CURTIS, BEN E. KING, SAM & DAVE, WILSON PICKETT, BOOKER T.& THE MG'S mais aussi des petits maîtres et maîtresses comme J.J. JACKSON, MARY WELLS, WILIAM BELL, EDDIE FLOYD, BARBARA LEWIS et bien d'autres (30 plages en tout). Ce cd me fait penser aux compils atlantic que l'on trouvait (en 33 tours) dans les années 60 et 70 et qui s'appelaient "rhythm and blues formidable" (12 ou 13 volumes si ma mémoire est bonne).

This is a great mix of various soul 45's from the mid to late 1960's. Everything here is stellar. There are some common pieces that are still played on oldies radio as well as a pile of platters that were their equal, even if they didn't get the recognition.
