Cords was the third album to be released from Synergy and was originally released in 1978 whilst Larry Fast was recording and working with Peter Gabriel on his second solo album. The album is wholly composed and performed by Larry fast and contains the tracks Full Moon Flyer, Trellis and Terra Incognita. Cords has been re mastered for release alongside the other Synergy releases, which will be re released over the coming six months.

昔のＮＨＫ-FMの名番組「クロスオーバーイレブン」で、2曲目の「フォボス・アンド・ダイモス・ゴー・トゥー・マース」を聴いたのがこの盤との出会いだった。無機的なシーケンサーのリズムと、クラシック風なブラス・ストリングス系のシンセサイザーが見事にかみ合った名曲だ。同種のシンセサイザー音楽にありがちな単調な繰り返しや楽想の貧相さがなく、各曲に創意工夫がある。「シナジー」の実体であるミュージシャン、ラリー・ファーストは、クラシック系の基礎のある方なのだろう。同じく変化に富んで飽きさせないヴァンゲリスの「チャイナ」とともに、ノイやタンジェリンドリームとは対照的な作風の、1980年代のシンセサイザー・アルバムの傑作と思う

I love what Larry Fast was doing during the 70s and 80's. I envy his access to all that great gear. This album proceeds Games and it is a different feel, not as anthemic as Games but you can see the progression from the one to the other. Plus Games had a different theme.

If you are young and like synths you have to realize this is prior to the digital revolution that the Yamaha DX7 and sampled waveforms were released. No Protools or Fruity Loops type cut and paste here. Larry used traditional harmony and not just sound-designed behind beats. Lots of oscilators out of tune and everything that makes analog synths so special. Great stuff by a great composer. Highly recommended.

Disque très difficile à trouver. Article d'occasion venant de grande Bretagne, impeccable et conforme à mes souvenirs. Musique symphonique au synthés (en 1978), parfois un peu ésotérique.
