Bond is a string quartet made up of four good-looking women, two from Australia, two from Great Britain. Their training is in purely classical music, which this CD certainly is not. Their previous CD was banned from the UK classical charts, presumably because of the overly insistent use of beats and other intrusions, and this CD too contains African, electro, Latin and hip-hop beats. Bond will be the first to acknowledge that they're heavily influenced by the club scene and pop culture from London to Bangkok. Here they are joined by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the sound is enormous: there's level upon level of overdubbing. Some of the tracks have, as their basis, classical works: Pachelbel's Canon, snippets of Swan Lake, the Nutcracker, Carmen's Habanera, Brahms' Hungarian Dance no. 5, Barber's Adagio for Stings. But the sound we get is lush, beat-heavy, club-ish, full of excitement and basic rhythms, and the "classical" connection--aside from the melodies from the above-mentioned pieces--must be taken on faith. The women's solo playing, if there is any, is not audible. The over-riding feel is disco; this is for dancing and for creating a mood of excitement. --Robert Levine

The bond girls have come out with another amazing cd, with all new tracks - some new, some old. Several tracks, especially the title song, Classified, compares with the best they have done. This album was released here in Japan and I had to search several stores to find - but worth the effort. This is another outstanding CD from the Bond girls and I hope they continue for many more years. Catch them live in concert, you will see a sensational performance.

最初聴いたときはちょっと期待はずれかなと思いましたが
数回聴くにつれBGMにちょうどいいみたい。
EXPLOSIVE一曲で判断したんですけど。かっこいいですね。

I write murder mysteries for a living and, like many authors, I find it helps to get the creative juices flowing if I listen to music when I'm working.
That's a problem when I'm listening to Bond because these four women have the power to get me completely involved in their music; so involved that I stop hammering away at my keyboard, leave my characters standing around at the scene of the crime and forget about plot devices until the music stops.
'Classified' is probably my favorite recording of theirs because it not only exhibits their musicality but also their unique ability to blend genres effectively. This CD features one of their signature pieces - 'Explosive' - played with great skill and enormous passion but it also includes 'Samba,' a Latin fusion piece with a hint of Asian influence, and 'Hungarian,' an updated version of 'The Hungarian Dances' by Johannes Brahms. In addition, for those who remember the late Seventies, the CD also includes a performance of the disco hit 'Fly, Robin Fly.' There aren't many groups that can so seamlessly blend this many genres in one collection and very few that would have the chutzpah to include a disco track along with Brahms.
Bond has the talent to pull that off and these four women do it beautifully.
So it comes down to this: If you want to play some music while you're writing or painting or sculpting, find someone else to listen to because then you'll actually get some work done.
But if you want to just listen to four superb musicians make beautiful music, then by all means do play 'Classified' to your heart's content.

Not just good looking but fantastic musicians to boot. This album makes a great addition to any collection. Bond seem to have started a trend for Classical Female Musicians to form groups. Long may they continue. I just love the way they make classical music more accepted by the general public.

This Album would be a good addition for any collector of music.
