Many of these traditional tunes were new to me and the others familiar from contemporary bands of the period. All are dominated by Bo Carter and the other Chatmon brothers vocals and fiddle. Recording on 78 forced musicians to pare their performances down to a few minutes, but you can listen to this music like it was played for hours at picnics, weddings, parties, and hotels. This is happy music, with a good tempo that is made for shaking and dancing. Enjoy Howlin' Wolf's hit, Sitting on top of the World, Let the Deal Go Down, Driving that Thing, and many others that were the precursor to Delta Blues and Dixieland Jazz.
I hope this review will help you like this music as well as I do.
