At first glance, the approach picked for De-Lovely will be familiar to those who already own Red Hot + Blue: A Tribute to Cole Porter. On both albums, contemporary pop stars cover classics by Porter. But many of the interpretations on Red Hot + Blue were modernized, whereas the approach on De-Lovely is more traditional---it's the soundtrack to a biopic about Porter, after all, so a classic (though not quite period) sound prevails. What's surprising is how well many of the singers handle the songs without the crutch of a contemporary pop retooling. Who would have thought that Alanis Morissette had such a natural affinity for "Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)," for instance? She fares equally well in her screen cameo, whereas Diana Krall sounds superb on "Just One of Those Things" but looks horribly uncomfortable in the film. Other good surprises include Robbie Williams's "It's De-Lovely" and Kevin Kline as Porter, coming across as a more tuneful Rex Harrison. Elvis Costello, meanwhile, confirms he's a better songwriter than singer, and as Linda Porter, Ashley Judd is hesitant at best. In a nice touch, a recording of Cole Porter himself performing "You're the Top" provides the album's coda. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

映画「五線譜のラブレター」のサントラです。
この邦題、すごく素敵ですね。
ラストに作曲家コール・ポーター氏が自ら歌う
曲(素敵なラブソングです)が収録されてます。
映画を見ていると、ポーター氏が心から愛した
奥様が瞼に浮かぶようです。
古き良き情緒あふれる一枚です。CDケースが
プラスチックではなく、レコードのように紙で
できているのも良いです。

この映画何度繰り返し飛行機の中で見たかわかりません。成田からワシントンまで12時間ぶっ続けて6回ぐらい見続けました。何しろ、アシュリー・ジュードが美しい！まさに円熟した女性の最も美しい色香の漂う奥様ぶり。ケヴィン・クラインもいい味出していますが、彼女の方が一回り大きい感じ。この他現在アメリカで活躍しているジャズ・ヴォーカリストがずらりと顔を並べて登場しますが、途中現れるダイアナ・クロールなんか萎んでしまうぐらいアシュリー・ジュードの存在感がすごいです。

映画を思い浮かべながらこのＣＤをかけるだけでなく、この音楽だけでも十分楽しめる。本当に買って良かった！と思える一品。

　第57回カンヌ映画祭のクロージング作品となったアーウィン・ウィンクラー監督の作品"De-Lovely"のサントラ。映画は、今世紀前半を代表する作曲家であるコール・ポーター（ジャズやミュージカルを好きな人には常識！）の生涯を描いた音楽映画で、アメリカでも04年7月2日公開、日本でも公開されると思われます。
　サントラは全曲コール・ポーター作品で、当時の雰囲気を感じさせるアレンジがなされており、統一感があり非常に聴きやすいです。主演のケビン・クライン、アシュレイ・ジャッドの歌が聴けるのも、ファンには嬉しいところだろうけど、映画にも出演したエルヴィス・コステロ、アラニス・モリセット、シェリル・クロウ、ロビー・ウィリアムス、ナタリー・コール、ダイアナ・クラールといった豪華なメンツの歌が聴けるのがマジで嬉しいです。
（インナーには上記のミュージシャンの出ているところと思われる映画のワン・シーンの写真があります。コレを見てると公開が待ち遠しくなります。）

Schon der Film "De-Lovely" über das Leben und Werk Cole Porters (läuft in Deutschland im Januar 2005 an) ist das, was ich als "großes Kino" bezeichnen würde (und Kevin Kline ist in der Hauptrolle einfach göttlich - oskarreif!). Und was das "Gesamtkunstwerk" neben den rein filmischen Elementen so großartig macht, ist selbstverständlich die Musik! Selbst all jene, die von sich selbst behaupten, keine Ahnung von Jazz zu haben und erst recht kein Faible dafür, werden merken, dass sie fast jeden Song zumindest mitsummen können. Die Songs sind genial, aber auch ihren Interpreten gebührt großes Lob - die Lieder sind neu, manchmal eigenwillig interpretiert, aber immer gefühlvoll und authentisch. Besonders schön auch "Let's do it" von Alanis Morissette. Fazit: Diese CD ist nicht nur für eingefleischte Jazz-Fans ein Musthave!

no es el típico disco de artistas actuales que pretenden «hacer suyos» unos temas clásicos. Al tratarse de la banda sonora de la bio de Cole Porter las canciones están interpretadas con orquestaciones respetuosas con las versiones originales y los cantantes, aún aplicando su estilo, las interpretan como en los años 20, 30...
Muy buena banda sonora y muy buena película.
