A duo album recorded in Italy in 2004 by John Taylor and Kenny Wheeler.
As one would expect, these long-term musical associates deliver a set of tracks that are at turns lyrical, searching, rhythmic and well paced; there`s a bit of overdubbing on a couple of tracks (Wheeler adding extra brass, as he was inclined to do on the Azimuth ECM recordings).
Ian Carr in his liner piece provides no notes on individual tracks, some of which may well be totally improvised; it`s a pleasing album, but no mellow, ballad-heavy cruise; both musicians give full commitment to the material and it is an absorbing listen throughout.
Another fine album to set alongside the Azimuth trio recordings (which it has much in common with) and very enjoyable in it`s own right.
The CD has a running time of just over 54 minutes – do listen to the sound samples above.
