被写体に対してどうやら臆病なようなディレクターは別にして、このDVDには内気な所がある。カメラが被写体を長く撮りすぎることをためらっているような。そして、アフターグロウ・ライヴはあら探しをする部分はほとんどない。『Afterglow』『Fumbling Towards Ecstasy』『Surfacing』からの24曲近く曲が、縦横無尽に演奏され、DVDは比類のないパフォーマンスを見せると言うマクラクランの名声を固めている。すでに完成されているメロディアスな歌に彼女は細心の注意を重ね、それぞれの曲はさらなる広がりを見せている。まるでマクラクランが初めて歌っているように、マイクの前で磁気が苦もなく発せられて、オーディエンスは完全に魅了させられ、彼女のギターの弦が揺れるのを感じるほど近くにいる気分にさせるように。好感のもてるスターのクオリティは、DVDの2004年トロントのコンサートから選んだ15曲のサンプラーであるCD全体にも同じくあふれている。マクラクランの素材をそれほど重視しないファンは、どちらかと言えば線の細くて甘い「Ice Cream」を恋しがるだろうが、朗々と歌った「Building a Mystery」「Angel」「Train Wreck」などは『Afterglow Live's』の灯りをこれから何年も輝かせることだろう。（Tammy La Gorce, Amazon.com）

CDはCCCDだと言う事で諦めていたのですが、我が家のPCでFlac形式でリッピングできました。
DVDは秀逸です。
コンサートの内容はすでに多くのレビュアーの方が評価している通り素晴らしい内容です。
更に音質、画質が優秀！
カメラワークは私が観たコンサート映像の中でもトップランクです。

我が家のBDプレーヤーでDVD再生出来ました。

名作「Afterglow」を引っさげてのこのライヴ盤は、
ある意味サラ・マクラクランの現在の「Ｔｈｅ　Ｂｅｓｔ　Ｏｆ」の様相です。

これまた彼女の傑作ライヴ「ミラーボール」と比べて、より大らかでダイレクト感に溢れ、
ライヴらしい「勢い」を感じます（かといって歌も演奏も最上級です）。

ＣＤはＣＣＣＤなので残念ではありますが、音質が気になる場合は、
同封のＤＶＤを聴けば（観れば？）良い訳で、何も問題は無いかと・・・
（ワタシはＤＶＤのＳＴＥＲＥＯ音声をｉＰｏｄに移植し、完全版として楽しんでます）
ちなみに5.1ｃｈ音声はＤＯＬＢＹ ＤＩＧＩＴＡＬです（ｄｔｓはついてません・・・）。
輸入盤でもリージョン・フリーなので、日本でもちゃんと観れます。

もともとライヴには定評があり、
ある意味オリジナル・アルバムよりもスリリングに感じる彼女の曲を、
この機会にご堪能される事をお勧めいたします！

最新のオリジナルAfterglowのLiveツアーを収録した本作品。
ＤＶＤ+ＣＤの豪華版です。しかし残念ながらリビジョンは１
のようです。再生専用機、パソコンで動作させましたが
だめでした。しかたなく、パソコン上でリビジョンフリー
に変換し鑑賞するしかないようです。内容は前回のツアーの
ビジュアル作品とは違い、バンドを従えての内容になっています。
やはり、聞きどころはなんといってもAdia、Angel、Building A Mysteryでしょうか。一度も彼女の歌声を聞いたことのない方は
是非、一度は聞いてみて損はありませんよ。勿体ないです。--追記（修正）--他のレビュアーの方々が問題なくＤＶＤを見れていることで再確認しました。結果、どうやらきちんと再生できるようです。私のレビューから購入を躊躇された方がいらっしゃるとまずいので訂正いたします。すいません。

今回これを購入して初めて彼女の音楽を聴いたのですが、
歌がとてもうまいのに感動しました。声に表情があるという感じです。
そしてサウンド自体もどれもメロディーラインがしっかりしていて聞きやすいです。
80年代後半から活動しているようですが、けっこうマイペースでやってきた人なのでしょうか。
自分の音楽というスタイルをしっかり確立していますね。
こんなすばらしいアーチストを知ることができて、とても感激しています。知らない人にはぜひ聞いて欲しいですね。
またこれはDVD付きでこの値段というのも魅力です。
DVDはうちのプレーヤーでは普通に再生できました。たぶんリージョンフリーだと思います。
でもCDは強力なプロテクトがかかっています。でも著作権保護付きのwmaファイルでパソコンにも取り込みができます。
ただ手持ちのメモリープレーヤーが著作権保護付きのwmaを聞けないのでかなり不便なのがマイナスポイントですね。

たまたまフラっと彼女の海外公式ホームページでこのライブでの映像が公開されているのを目にして、もっと見たい！という衝動にかりたてられこの作品を購入しました。日本版が無いのが残念ですが、とてもクオリティー高いライブ映像だと思います。私にとって彼女のライブはこの作品が初めてでしたが、いろんな発見や不思議な感覚を覚えたと言うか、前から彼女のことをよく知っているような（カミさんのような）そんな身近な存在に感じました。さすがに定評のある彼女のステージはオリジナルのイメージを大きく崩さずさらに旨みのあるパフォーマンスが展開されていて素敵で、また彼女はマルチプレーヤーで演奏がうまいですね！サポート陣も時にはやさしく時には激しく彼女を盛り上げているところはアットホームな雰囲気が出てます。その中に日系人のメンバーがいたことがさらに身近な存在に感じた要因だったかもしれません。またステージを見て気が付きましたが、演奏でとても過激なことをしている（ギタリストがジミ・ヘンやバン・ヘイレンのようなトリッキーな奏法をしてます。）ナンバーなのに全体の雰囲気がマイルドに感じるところは凄いなと感心しました。アンサンブルと彼女のパフォーマンスによる巧みのなせる業でしょうね、私も一緒にステージで演奏したい気持ちになりました。全体的には時間がゆっくり流れていくような落ち着いた感じで、彼女を知らない人は飽きてしまうかもしれません、この作品を見る前に最近のオリジナルアルバムを噛み締めながら聴いておいたほうが楽しめると私は思います。しかしなぜ日本ではあまり受けないんでしょうか？日本のメディアに取り上げられないからかな〜、今の日本は彼女の魅力に気が付かないか理解できないくらいオーディエンスのレベルが落ちたんですかね。彼女の内側からにじみ出るようなパワーを多くの人に感じてもらいたいのですが・・・。

先にリリースされた「アフターグロウ」の時もスタジオ録音とは思えないリアリティがあったが、こちらは文字通りリアルライブである。
ライブ全体の構成や出来、サラのパフォーマンス、何をとっても素晴らしい。
実は今まで知らなかったのだが、サラは楽器の演奏も上手い。
このライブアルバムは、ミラーボールライブの伝説を上回ったかもしれない。
ＣＣＣＤのものはいつも購入しないようにしているのだが、思い切って購入してよかった。
しばらく聞き込む事になりそうだ。

まずは他の方のコメントとは違い、DVDは再生専用プレーヤー（リージョン2）でちゃんと観れました。
最初観たとき、リリスフェアの頃の初々しさが無くなってしまったなあと思いましたが、付録のインタビューで「今一番大切なものは娘」と述べており、新たな物の見方で人生を歩み始めた大人の女性になったのだなと理解、更に作品が好きになりました。
定番の曲もアレンジ変えて新鮮さも感じられるもの有り、また何よりもステージが今までとは違いスクリーンの導入などスケールアップしており素晴らしいです。CD付きでこの価格は本当にお買い得です。

1. Fallen (Live): The intro for this song is so creative.....sounded like a bee swarm! This is one of her best written songs; compellingly insightful as to the costs of the destruction of a relatioship. The kind of love that staggers you and swallows you up and somewhere along the line make a fool out of yourself. Yep we've all been there at one time or another, so don't even pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about! Ha! Ha!

2.World On Fire (Live): I like this version but still it is not one of my favorite Sarah songs. I tend to gravitate to her more powerfully meaningful love songs vs. pop sounding songs. I guess I just find value in what she is attempting to relay in her human experiences.

3.Adia (Live): I think this song is one of Sarah's best compositions. Lord knows we have it on enough CD's of hers but still I'm a sucker & can't stop playing it although I do prefer another version of this song. So well written though & was great to see her performing this live in Toronto.

4.Hold On (Live): This is such a good song on so many levels. It was interesting to hear her using such a high falsetto to her voice in the opening. The guitar sounds so good also and then it really rips open and you begin to hear the many layers that this song has to offer the listener. This song was done so well Live in Toronto when I saw her; it was the "moment" every artist wishes to have. Lyrically it demonstrates how intuitive Sarah is at drawing you into the story behind the words. Really just so beautiful.

5.Perfect Girl (Live): I love the opening harmony on this track. I don't think there aren't too many girls that haven't thought these words & swallowed them as part of our lives so many times. Letting go of the perfection ideal for ourselves & those around us..then recognizing that the utopia of perfection is in the letting go of the "control" aspect.

6.Push (Live): Just one of the best songs lyrically ever written. She really has a gift for constructing words into a piece of songwriting poetry. She makes this sound simple to the listener and has a knack for expressing herself in ways that everyone can relate to.

7.I Will Remmeber You: Such a lovely song.....one of hope, living without regrets but hiding our emotions from others. It is a nice song about remembering that special someone in all our lives that stays with us for a lifetime.

8.Witness (Live): I always loved the percussion used in this song. I love Sarahs voice in this song too and the drummer really holds the song together to give it the structure & balance. Loved the harmonies on it & this this song was one of their best collectively as a unit herself & all the other members of musicians accompanying her on this CD. They sounded even better live in person with this song (& I know this is a Live version but the sound equipment made it even better).

9.Answer(Live): This is I think her 2nd best song ever written behind Angel. It was so good to hear it live; the harmonies & piano work were just so beautiful & the way they play this song live sitting close together on stage was so lovely.

10.Building A Mystery (Live): I love this song & is so good live but I have to say I preferred it live on another CD but anytime she does it it's such a moment. Her background vocalist is so good & has been with her for a long time; hopefully forever as she's great!

11.Sweet Surrender: I like this song even though there is some instrument used that actually irritates me a bit on this song in the opening. The lyrics are outstanding on this & are pivotal to someone learning the lesson that sometimes in a relationship all you can do is give up and let the chips fall where they may.

12.Stupid(Live): This is one of my favorite tracks on this CD and I've put on my favorite playlist. The arrangement of the song was really well constructed lyrically, instrumentally & delivery. I liked it as it had a more rockier sound and the addition of the strings really gave the song extra power in the transmission of the angst of the lyrics.

13.Dirty Little Secret (Live): This is another of my favorite tracks on my favorite playlist. Just such a beautiful love song..one of desire and conviction. Really well executed.

I would suggest to everyone if your budget only allows you to purchase one of the Afterglow CD's that you buy this Live CD instead of the two. It is my preference & I think really showcases her voice better & the band & other accompanying artists on this CD.

Je ne sais pas si cette chanteuse a mis une fois le pied sur le territoire français, mais franchement si ça se produit, il y a de fortes chances que je me trouve dans la salle de concert. Cela fait une dizaine d'année que j'écoute sa musique, sa voix et je ne m'en lasse pas. Je recommande vivement

Si eres fan de Sarah McLachlan, este DVD te encantará. Es dinámico y entretenido. Tiene una sección de video con Sarah Mclachlan hablando sobre la gira, además de 3 videos musicales ( fallen, stupid y world on fire. La calidad de sonido está bastante bien. Contras: Aunque trae un cd de audio, no aparecen todas las canciones del DVD. Trae letras, pero están metidas dentro del DVD y no dentro del libro. No tiene subtitulos. Pero por unos 6 euros, tampoco puedes pedir más.

Ich besitze diese DVD jetzt schon einige Jahre - sie war sozusagen mein Einstieg in die Musikwelt von Sarah McLachlan. Und sie fasziniert mich noch heute jedes Mal wieder aufs Neue. Was hier geboten wird, kann nicht nur mit den großen Shows von Madonna mithalten, dieses Konzert überflügelt diese Shows sogar noch!
Eigentlich wollte ich gar keine Rezension abgeben, doch das Talent von McLachlan treibt mich einfach dazu.

Afterglow Live zeigt wieder mal, dass man keine waghalsigen Stunts, keine bunten Kostüme oder ein aufwendiges Set auf der Bühne braucht, um den Zuschauer einen Abend lang wirklich zu bannen.
McLachlan glänzt mit dieser Inszenierung auf ganzer Linie.
Zum Einen mit einer tollen Bühneninszenierung, die durch und durch zu ihren Songs und ihr selbst passt. Zum Anderen durch ihre überaus talentierten Musiker, mit denen sie schon Jahre zusammen arbeitet. Hier merkt man einfach, dass Harmonie auf der Bühne herrscht. Nicht zu vergessen sind Ihre tollen Songs, die jeder für sich unheimlich schöne Geschichten erzählen, und von ihr mit einer über die Maßen genialen, reinen, klaren, gänsehauterzeugenden Stimme vorgetragen werden.

Im Folgenden nur ein paar Anspieltipps, die man einfach gesehen haben sollte...

FALLEN - einen besseren Opener gibt es gar nicht für dieses Konzert. Ein toller Song, der live noch ein bisschen mehr Power hat, als auf dem Album.

ADIA und HOLD ON - Diese beiden Titel strahlen exakt das aus, was man das ganze Konzert über spürt und einem schwer fällt in Worte zu fassen. Immer wieder fühlt man eine gewisse Warmherzigkeit und vielleicht auch Geborgenheit und diese beiden Songs strahlen das besonders aus. Überaus positiv bleiben diese Titel in Erinnerung, nicht zuletzt, weil sie von McLachlan und ihrer Band anders arrangiert wurde, als das auf den jeweiligen Studioalben der Fall ist. Eines der vielen absoluten Highlights des Konzerts!!

ANGEL - Ist wahrscheinlich DIE McLachlan Hymne schlechthin. Jeder, der Stadt der Engel gesehen hat, dürfte diesen Titel kennen. Sonst immer der letzte Song auf ihren Konzerten, bildet dieser Titel hier den Mittelpunkt und ist einfach toll vorgetragen. Nur Sarah am Piano, lädt wirklich zum Träumen ein. Wieder spürt man diese Warmherzigkeit, am besten einfach auf sich wirken lassen...

TRAIN WRECK - Hell yeah Sarah kann auch richtig rocken (Zumindest ansatzweise ;-)) Eine solche Performance traut man ihr eigentlich gar nicht zu, denn sonst steht ihre Musik doch eher für die ruhige und nachdenkliche Sparte. Doch Train Wreck zeigt, dass es auch funktioniert!! Auf dem Album selbst, ist der Titel sehr ruhig arrangiert, aber mit dieser Performance ist bewiesen, dass Titel und Sängerin über die Maßen wandlungsfähig sind...

SWEET SURRENDER - Und rockig geht es weiter!! Sweet Surrender war schon immer eine Up Tempo Nummer und das spürt man auch auf dieser DVD wieder. Es macht Spaß zuzuhören und der Fuß wippt automatisch mit!! Klasse!!

POSSESSION - wieder mal ein wirkliches Highlight. Toller Song, toller Text, super Performance. Der Song startet leise und nachdenklich, mit Sarah am Piano und endet in einem genialen stimmlichen Feuerwerk, bei dem Sarah alles gibt und zeigt, was sie hat. Beser gehts einfach nicht...

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET - Der letzte Titel des Konzerts. Hier will ich nicht all zu viel zu sagen, denn dieser Titel muss für sich wirken. Auf jeden Fall gäbe es keinen besseren Abschluss für dieses perfekte Konert als dieser Titel, wunderschön in Szene gesetzt...

Alles in allem bekommt man hier 1000% Sarah McLachlan. Diese DVD ist für alte Hasen, die sie schon lange kennen und lieben, einfach eine tolle Ergänzung für die Sammlung. Aber auch für Einsteiger, die ihre Musik noch nicht kennen, ist sie sehr gut geeignet, denn sie enthält Titel (fast) all ihrer Alben und gibt einen guten Überblick über ihre Karriere und vor allen Dingen ihr einmaliges Talent.

Ich kann sie jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen!!

Eight years is a long time to wait for an artist to release new material. Eight years can do a lot to a person, tastes change, music changes, life does that. After eight years I have all her songs memorised, and my favourites engraved in my heart. Eight years and she hasn't lost it. This is a whole new Sarah, the bittersweet and the heartache are still around, but there is something new in her voice.
The CD when it came out blew me away, and I knew that she would be touring so I booked myself a ticket to watch her Afterglow tour in Manchester. Amazing, beautiful, that gorgeous misery, its like an aphrodisiac and amphetamines at the same time.
So I bought the DVD. All I can say is that even though I wasn't there, it had such great visuals, such atmosphere that I had the best Saturday morning of my life.
I cant begin to explain how good the music and the visuals are. The set of 'fear' was the best, her rendition of the Beatles song 'Blackbird' haunting, I just fell in love with her all over again, There is so much passion and emotion. The best I can describe it by saying you feel like part of a family, and for two hours you listen to beautifully crafted music and think nothing can be better. Some people say this DVD isn't the best, and that the concert isn't as good as the Mirrorball concert DVD. All I can say is that this is a new Sarah, older, wiser and deeper. The CD is great but the DVD is fantastic, because the emotion is plain to see.
