Born in Virginia, raised in Scotland and having put in time in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, Jonathan Rice has an accent that's impossible place and a dusky, windswept voice that makes it hard to believe he's barely hit legal drinking age. Even though the songs on his major label debut - recorded in Lincoln, Nebraska with members of Rilo Kiley, the Faint, and singer-songwriter Amy Correia - have become synonymous with teen dramas like The OC and Smallville, Rice's loyalty is to another generation. I love Rice. I have all his work and this one is great too. I am glad he is still putting out solo material along with side projects such as Jenny & Johnny.
Mid November is a pretty good song, but the rest just doesn't do it for me. Nothing really stands out as memorable. I gave the album a chance, but it sounds too much like a depressed version of John Mayer.
Johnathan Rice is one of my favs musicians. I really enjoy this CD and not only did I get this fast from the seller, I received it in excellent condition as described.
