Initial reviews called Palmhenge "A cold beer in the hand of the enlightened middle class" ... Cracker's co-founder Hickman has produced an album that mainstream Cracker fans will relate and rock to, but with the depth only devout Cracker fans knew to expect. From blazing rock guitar solos to redneck humor to thought-provoking singer-songwriter stories, we found something quenching from top to bottom. I've been collecting music for nearly half a century - that being said, Johnny Hickman's Palmhenge is in my top 10 albums of all time. Incredible virtuosity in song writing, musicianship and very nicely produced, this is Hickman's masterpiece effort (so far). Probably doomed to be lost in the vacuum of musical space, do yourself a favor and give it a spin. You won't regret it.
this disc was a little bit of a letdown....after seeing Johnny live with Cracker, i expected more. More rockin' for sure....he is an excellent guitar player but i am not so sure this piece of work exhibits that.
