I love Jaguar Wright. Heard her first on Jay-Z's Unplugged album, LOVED Denials, Delusions and Decisions, and couldn't find Divorcing Neo to Marry Soul except from an importer on Amazon. This is a musical travesty.
On this album, Wright's sensibilities from D3 are demonstrated but this album also shows her growth as an artist. Raphael Saddiq's contributions give a familiar sensibility to some of the music on this album.
This album is pure greatness. Jaguar Wright is unsung and deserving of far more recognition than she receives. I love this album, but it also breaks my heart that so few people will hear it.
This girl is not as deep and amazing as Meshell N'Degeocello, but she certainly falls somewhere in line behind Meshell in terms of TALENT and CREATIVITY. Darned near every track on the CD is good in your car, good on a date, good whenever.
The production is great, the lyrics were pretty good, the overall package is worth playing again and again and again.
It's really unfortunate that the current music industry does not push true talent like this, but will package up talentless "stripper-types" and turn them into overnight superstars.
I was lucky enough to see Jaguar perform live at the St Kitts Music Festival a couple of years before her first album was released and was completely blown away by her lyrics and talent. This lady truly deserves to be a major star and with the release of her second album really shows what a talent she is and how she is evolving in to a big player in the music industry.
Like this album a lot, her first album was just as good too. My favourites are Free, Let Me Be The One, Woman to Woman & Do Your Worst (Simply WOW), all the songs are quite good though.
