Size is smaller than expected, but performance is surprisingly good
We made potato and lotus root (レンコン) chips. It comes with a slicer which is very sharp (I assume it is shaped to be safer but it is still quite easy to cut yourself on it). You can cut very thin slices so actually you don't need many vegetables. The size of the maker is small so it should fit in any microwave. The microwave time depends on the mass of vegetable and you are supposed to weigh it, but it turned out okay even just guessing the weight (err on the shorter side or the chips will burn). The chips come out pretty crispy, quite close to normal chips, but with a tiny bit of chewiness. The lotus root chips turned out crispier than the potato.We tried adding salt and other flavorings by shaking the chips in a bag, but they don't really stick to the chips. Might be better to dip the chips in something instead.BE CAREFUL, it says in the instructions don't use more than 3 times in a row!! We missed that warning and the plastic burned and melted a little in the microwave the 4th time :'( So you won't be able to make a large quantity of chips at once (another reason why you won't need many vegetables). Because of that limit, I wish it was able to cook more chips at a time...
