Product Description

Killing Joke Started on the Unemployment Line. Whether Fact Or Fiction, it was While Waiting in Line at a British Unemployment Office in Late 78 Early '79, that Singer/Keyboardist Jeremy "Jaz" Coleman Ran Into a Friend and Started Discussing his Musical Aspirations. Upon Hearing Coleman Speak, the Friend Said, "i have Someone You Should Meet," and Later Brought Him to a London Flat, Where Drummer Paul Ferguson was Waiting. Just Over 25 Years Since the Release of their First Album 遡illing Joke� Through E.g. Records, the Band Return to the Gig Circuit on Support Slots for Motley Crue痴 Arena Tours in June 2005. Following this Tour, EMI Marketing Release Four of their Albums, Now Newly Remastered and with Added Bonus Tracks. The Artwork for Each Album Has Been Cleaned Up by Original Designer Mike Coles and all Bonus Tracks have Been Carefully Chosen by the Band Themselves.

以前某レコードストアのオンラインで、発注したこのキリング・ジョークのピクチャーレコードが、約40日間も待たされたあげく、取り寄せ不可との事で、自動キャンセルされました。半ば諦めていたら、Amazonさんで見つける事が出来、注文して3日ほどで届きました。特に気に入っている、この3rdアルバム、入手出来て本当に嬉しいです。

Foolishly gave away my vinyl of Killing Joke Revelations when I moved abroad. Thrilled now to have the remastered version on CD. Played several times, no skipping. Really happy with my purchase.

This is Killing Joke's third lp and the final one with Youth on bass for many years. The cd opens with The Hum which recalls The Requiem from their first lp. For me this is the weakest track on the cd. After that song the sonic attack picks ups the pace with Empire Song, a brilliant song which was one of the singles from this lp. The original issue of this recording closed with Dregs--a song I like but derided by some. I personally saw this song as an attack on the apathy of the youth of the day. Many saw it as a bunch of pointless lyrics strung together over a simplistic tune. You can draw your own conclusions. The remaster closes with an alternate take on We Have Joy. It would have been nice if the re-issue contained more bonus material, but sadly that is the only extra track. Most of themes of much this record revolve around the Cold War.

Tribal drumming and guitar noise are the sound of the cd. This release also showed the band maturing musically. It definately paved the way for the follow up lp--Fire Dances (my personal favorite). It was after this release that Jaz would disappear to Iceland in anticipation of the apocolypse. Youth and the band's management would find themselves fired after Jaz returned to the UK with Geordie.

This release contains includes the classic sounds of my favorite period of Killing Joke. By far this is their punkiest release, with songs like "Chop-Chop," and "Land of Milk and Honey." Also, in this release another stand out feature is the atmosphere Killing Joke so excels at establishing, and the way the songs are arranged paints a prognostic-ally blissfully sardonic landscape narrative. Give this one a try you won't regret it.

Put this album on,then listen to 1986's "Brighter than a thousand suns",and you would question yourself.'Is this the same band!' Both terrific L.P's. Revelations is a very edgy post punk affair,totally distorted and noisy,used to maximum effect,this is where 'Geordie' shows his guitar genius. You would either find this album irritating or wonderful,for me the latter.'The Pandys are coming' track,is about a non-existant land called 'Pandyssia' where all the dishonored are sent. See my review on "Brighter.."..as this is nicer on the ears..but has a post apocalyptic sound all the way through.
