All the songs on this cd are pop-punk, skate-punk, and post-hardcore influenced with a little alternative rock mixed in.
I like this cd a lot, but the tracks I would recommend listening to are: above me, still, one slow dance, road to recovery, and in my eyes.
I give it a 9/10 because of the following criteria:
Musicianship/songwriting: all the instruments are very technical and go well together but I'll be more specific. The guitars especially during 'the wrath' and above me are very melodic and catchy during the solos. The bass is taking a lead unlike most other punk bands that just play with groove and the drums are typical of skate punk with triplets and post-hardcore break downs. The singing is a little whining but you'll get used to it. I give a 10/10.
Lyrics: most of the lyrics are typical of punk (with a few christian references to god) except on 'in my eyes' where Scott says 'you're lovely, your love leaves' clever wordplay. I give it a 7.5/10
Overall: if you love punk-rock and melodic hardcore this album is for you. So few bands have the intensity and musicianship of Rufio that this would make a nice selection to any collection. 10/10
I absolutely love this album and had lost it over the years. Was so happy to have found it on Amazon and played it as soon as it came in and I just drifted back eleven years to some of the best days of my life.
