Although reggae's religious overtones are often overshadowed by the music's ties to ganja and the hippie movement, there are some socially active or religious leaning artists out there. One of the newest comes in the unlikely figure of a young Hasidic Jew named Matisyahu. Singing with a slight ghetto patois, in Yiddish, and even displaying considerable beat-box skills, the New Yorker is at his best when he works himself into fits of righteous indignation and Old Testament fervor (the limits of his vocal range are laid bare when he croons on ballads). The lean three-piece band on this live recording, his second album, is aerodynamic and flexible, able to do the slow reggae groove or rock out with ferocity. After 12 tracks of stripped-down reggae, however, the music tends to blend into one long groove. Nonetheless, there is an undeniable urgency in this live recording that comes through loud and clear, making it a live document of note by one of reggae's most interesting new figures. --Tad Hendrickson

初めて、ライブをみて本当に衝撃的でした。

生音、ヒップホップっぽい、レゲエ、なおかつスカっぽいとこもあり、歌もいいし、ビートボックスもできる。ビジュアルもインパクトがある。本当に聞いてそんな損なし。かなり注目度高いと思います。

国内版が出るのを楽しみにしています。

たまたま見てたCSでカッコいいと思い購入しました。
レゲエ系なので打ち込みかなぁと思ったら生バンドでかつメンバー皆ノリがうまくカッコいいです。
ボーカルはボイパもでき多彩です。
普段ロック系を主に聞いてますがこれは聞けます。音も良質です。

Je découvre l'artiste et là c'est la claque! Un pur son, des basses qui envoient graves, une voix qui vous transporte et une musicalité rare en live... un moment de grâce
J'envie vraiment ceux qui ont eu la chance d'assister à ce concert.
Alors foncez, c'est du bon, très bon, très très bon!!!

This is an inspired performer, the spirit is with him.

One would need be dead not to hear the charismatic energies pouring out of this good soul of Matthew Miller(matisyahu).

BeatBox is a tour de force of vocal sound without enunciated words, a marvel to hear.

His band support is also most excellent.

He has rightfully wedded the Marley/Rastafari mysticism with the mysticism of the wisdom of what i simply call universalistic spritualism, but here moved through the mysteries of the Kabala.

His faith and symbols of his faith can be interchanged with all the oneness of the varied roads to wisdom that can be taken be it the Elders of the Hopi, the mystics of the Sufi, the wisest of the Buddhist; the wisdom of the christian universalist on and on.

His talking into his number REFUGE i can hear the naturalness of a gifted but modest soul.

His refering to "a real person" in what need constitute a king one can hear in him, this is a real person.

I live afar from where i could see this man perform live so i regret i will not get the chance to see matisyahu perform live, i am sure it is to witness the real thing, someone inspired.

I rate matisyahu as good a new talent reggae/rapper whatever i have heard in recent times.

This is for both people seeking a fine talent and a deep spiritualism confronting these dark and dread times.

Be one atheist/agnostic/ or a worshipper of Daffy Duck the spirit/the higher power is available to all, we are all in the same boat and that boat is sinking and matisyahu confronts this with exceptional verve and riding within the frame of his own beliefs, but the knowledge of I and I is , as i say, universal to all that seek it.

My cat would love this message, as the i is in all things, we all are in the same journey in the below, the place where we struggle.

So enough already, i LIKED IT:5 big stars i give it.:) Max90
