そして、言葉。

このバンドの原点であり、未だにライヴで演奏される曲が収録されている点などを考慮すれば、バンドにとって重要な位置づけである事は間違いない。

歌詞の言葉選びのセンスが遠慮なく、フィルターかかってない感じが良い。
ぬるい言葉ではなく、「殺」「刺」「消」「死」など、攻撃的なセンテンスが並んでる。

それを支える演奏も良い。
全てがハイテンションに突き進み、ブレーキをかけない感じは、聴き手をふるい落とすか、もしくはとんでもない所まで連れて行ってくれるようで、刺激的。

時雨は、どのバンドにも似ていない所が最大の特徴だ。

大抵のバンドが「〜っぽい感じ」など形容されると思うが時雨には何かに似ているという所がない。

曲だけ聴くとV系的な面も感じなくもないが、メンバーのルックスは至って普通の大学生風。
喋りも大人しく、そんなに激しい感じではない。

なのに、出す音はコレ…（笑

そんな謎な部分もこのバンドの魅力ではないだろうか。

初めて時雨を聴いたときやられたと思った。
誰かが今の邦楽のこの立場にずっと立たなきゃいけないと思っていた。
隙間に鋭く切り込んでいくような塊。音に感じる、温度や色彩、広さ、血生臭さ。
曲によっては雨に湿った土の匂いまでしてくる気がするから不思議。
この３人が演奏しているだけでそこにストーリーを感じてしまうほどの強烈な存在感。
凛として時雨は激しい演奏も聴き所だが、
それを小難しくしないTKのポップなメロディセンスや作詞も光る。
ストレートに切り込んでくるナイフのように鋭く、ドラマティックで
サスペンスティックな存在。荒っぽさすらその存在感を演出する。

初々しく、荒けずりな感じのある作品ですが、変態チックなオルタナティブバンドが活躍していくうえでの最初の初期衝動であることに
変わりありません。
まずこんなにもクセになる楽曲を発表してくれたことに感謝。

完璧中毒です！
こんなに心をガッツリつかまれたのは初めてです！！！
グループ名だけは知っていて少し気にはなっていたんですが、気が向いたら買おう。ぐらいの気持ちでいました。
もっともっと早く手に入れとけばよかった！！！（悔泣）

もし！！私のように気にはなってるけど・・・・という方がいたら！買うべきです！！

好き嫌いはすっごく分かれると思います☆
結構激しめなものが好きな方はずっぽりはまると思います！

In appropriately weird fashion, Ling Tosite Sigure’s first proper release was titled #4, although keeping in the spirit of math rock, there was a mathematical reason. The group had put together three previous demos, making the present album its first real release, from 2005. Having played together for several years and worked on a coherent style— that style being somewhat contrasting and disjointed by design— the resulting product is really quite impressive, particularly for a debut. Toru Kitajima, better known as TK, and his trio developed a style here of sudden, radical shifts in time and dynamics that can go from almost dulcet J-Pop to something that sounds like TK’s guitar is going to blow out the listener’s speakers if one is not careful. Even his vocals shift between that breathy style that can be an acquired taste at least, and something far more jagged and ragged. Yet this never disguises the meticulous instrumental work hidden beneath the sudden wall of sound when the band comes screeching out of the gate after a breathy passage. Certainly, the band immediately distinguished themselves from toe, who released The Book About… the same year, helping to establish a more emulated style of Japanese math rock. Yet this is also nothing like a Tatsuya Yoshida project (Ruins, Korekyojinn, Koenjihyakkei). TK really did create something unique here, and while a few groups picked up threads of it, like tricot, it may just be harder to emulate.

From here, the group manages advances in composition, TK’s guitar work gets more interesting, and the group does generally find forward movement, but it is impressive as a debut on its own terms, and for the distinctiveness of the sound, making it challenging to emulate. Of course, sometimes that means artists have less influence, as measured by those taking lessons, but so it goes.

Absolutely wonderful! From going off the songs that I most enjoyed from Best of Tornado (Hyper Tornado Edition) by Ling Tosite Sigure I thought for sure I might like #4 and it proved true. Is Ling Tosite Sigure's sound ever raw in this, besides TK's voice! Though I am sure some people wouldn't like it I like things that are more natural in music.

You see perfectly polished music isn't everything sometimes but I think this might be a particular taste of mine in music.

So yes. Be aware that while in my view this album (yet another one) is without flaw, others may think otherwise considering did notice that Crazy Kanjou Style did seem to present some microphone problems in the recording and it interfered with the sound source of TK's voice. Though since I find TK's voice incredibly charming I did not much see a difference either way.

Other than that, must say #4 continues to make me see that Ling Tosite Sigure thrives on beautiful guitar patterns (with occasional divergent patterns within songs to keep listener's from completely internalizing the music) and expert drumming. Nothing new there but since I am continuing to explore their music I still continue to be impressed by where all this inspiration is coming from. It is totally unreal how many songs are so beautiful and continually different, not to mention my ears continue to detect newly tapped musical territory each and every time. It's great because sometimes I worry music has become too stagnant for my tastes.
