７１年発表の５作目。モーガル・スラッシュからジョン・ウェットンが参加したことにより、プログレ・ファンにも認知度の高いアルバムですが、そのこと以上にファミリーとしてもかなり楽曲が充実しているアルバムとして人気のあります。１．のヨレヨレ哀愁ギターは一度聞くとしばらく頭から離れないほど印象的で、曲としてもアルバムを象徴するような素晴らしい作品です。ベースとコーラスで参加しているウェットンはさほど目立つことなく、うまくグループに溶け込んでいて違和感がありません。彼の参加によるものなのか、グループ全体の演奏が生き生きしており、大変充実しています。特にジョン・パーマーは鍵盤、ｖｉｂ．などで大活躍しており、グループにカラフルな要素を加えています。２曲目には印象的なピアノ、４曲目にはチェンバロ、６曲目にはオルガン、８曲目ではウェットンのファンキーなベースに合わせてのｖｉｂ．と彼の活躍はほとんど話題になりませんが、このグループにおいてはかなり重要だったと再認識させてくれます。チャップマンのヴォーカルも絶好調ですし、(９．はこれぞチャップマン！！っていう絶唱！！) 随所に現れるホルンやサックス、トランペットなどの管楽器も味わい深くファミリーの最初の一枚にはおすすめ。思いっきりクセのあるグループですが、慣れると美味で手放せなくなります。

Sehr schöne cd. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und habe keinen Grund irgend etwas zu beanstanden, bzw. zu bemengeln. Die Musik macht gute Laune.

Family were and still are like the talented Cousin that you have but you never speak of for some reason...A kind of secret that moved through the Hard Rock era of the 70's and while they had some small commercial successes they never did quite make it to the big time and for no good reason that is absolutely for sure. This Band should have been the group on everybody's mind and mouth. The only thing that may have kind of stopped them might have been Roger Chapman's rather Unique method of singing. I think of it as being quite cool but it is different and does take a bit of getting used to. There is almost a Folk feel to the way the man sings until the band opens up behind him and then all room for error is erased as they fully take over the entire show with Chapman integrating his method of singing into the rock backdrop very well. I had not heard them until very recently and now I am totally sold on this group. I only wish that they had had more success, then there would be more for me to collect...Spigomars

I have to assume that if you're reading this, you already know this album. If not, I can only comment that I think this music has weathered well and remains as bracingly innovative as it sounded originally. It is a neat blend of influences, from rock to folk to jazz, with wonderfully weighty lyrics. As to the sound, this is very well remastered, no mean feat as the band presents a complex mix with multiple layers of instrumentation and vocals. All of them are revealed and audible in the remastered version, with plenty of whomping bass and clarity to the upper sonic regions. And it rocks, too...

Arguably the strongest family line-up and tragically short-lived, producing only one more album, the towering classic Bandstand. John Wetton on bass and a few vocals gave the group a more solid sound and the songwriting of chappo and charlie is as strong and adventurous as ever. Fearless features classic, "best of" selection tracks throughout - Between Blue and Me, Larf and Sing, Sat'dy Barfly, Spanish Tide, Take Your Partners, Burning Bridges - in a range of styles from acoustic ballad (Children), bar room honky tonk (Barfly), music hall (Larf and Sing), prog rock (Spanish Tide, Burning Bridges), blues rock (Take Partners) and jazz (Crinkly Grin - amazing). Whitney shows of his wide range of guitar styles, acoustic (superb on spanish tide) and electric (mandolin like on Bridges), chappo sings in mellow and demented styles and palmer is brilliant on keyboards and vibes. As you'd expect from Family their arrangements and ideas and overall musicality is incredible but never self indulgent, always accessible and focussed on making great music. Intelligence and ability far beyond most bands before, during or since. 5 stars. Not to mention some great bonus tracks including hit single In My Own Time and a few live ones.
