Entdeckt von Daniel Miller (Depeche Mode) begann Nitzer Ebb den Siegeszug der Electronic Body Music (EBM) 1984. Der Durchbruch gelang dann 1987 als die Band zum Mute Label wechselte und Depeche Mode als Vorgruppe auf der Music For The Masses Tour begleitete. Das Ende der 80er war auch das Ende von EBM und die harten elektronischen Klänge verschwanden erst einmal von der Bildfläche. Anfang 2000 erinnerte man sich zum ersten mal an die guten Songs von damals und es entstanden eher durchschnittliche Remixe von Heckmann und Kieran, die auf dieser CD auch mit drauf sind. Das dann endlich 2006 ein vernünftiges Remix-Album, neben dem Best Of, released wurde, war eigentlich nur eine Frage der Zeit. Die Songs im neuen Design gefallen mir sehr gut und sind äußerst clubtauglich. Viele Soundelemente von damals wurden verwendet. Daher ist hier ein sehr großer Wiedererkennungswert vorhanden. Empfehlen kann ich an dieser Stelle auch das Solo-Projekt von Douglas Mccarthy, welcher mit dem Club-DJ Terence Fixmer bereits ein eigenes Album produziert hat. Frischer EBM Sound für alle Freunde der etwas anderen Art der elektronischen Musik. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für das lieblose Design und dem hauchdünnen Inlay. Ein Booklet mit Fotos und Infomaterial, oder ein Digipack wäre schön gewesen.

Most of these mixes were created for the actual release, with a couple of older classic remixes throw in for good measure. I am not a huge Nitzer fan, but the variation and club-friendly nature of most of these revamps tempted me....and for fans of their material this is a worthwhile purchase.

I bought this as a standalone CD, before the 2010 Box Set came out, but the sound quality on this original format is excellent throughout (so the need for remastering was questionable!).
