音楽は基本的にあのジョンウィリアムスの「スーパーマンのテーマ」をそのまま受け継いでいるので、テーマ曲を聴くだけで胸が高鳴ります！映画を観た後なら、なおさら他の曲も楽しめると思います。サントラも映画も最高でした！

スーパーマン・リターンズはクリストファー・リーブが主演した第１作目を見事に再現しています。

雰囲気がそっくりだし、マーロン・ブランドさえ出てきます。

さすがに制作費300億かけている映画で冒険できなかったのでしょうか。

音楽にしてもしかり、ジョン・ウィリアムズのスコアを見事にジョン・オットマンが取り込んでいます。

ところどころにジョン・ウィリアムズの旋律が出てくると感動します。やはり美しい。

ＴＶ「ロイス＆クラーク」や「ヤング・スーパーマン」でもジョン・ウィリアムズの音楽を使えば良かったかもしれません。

偉大な映画の遺産を語り継ぐにはこういう手法もありかなと思います。

リターンズを見た後に音楽もよかったな〜！！と拝聴してみました。
もとはジョン・ウィリアムズの作曲したテーマソングなんですが
オットマン氏もウィリアムズ版オリジナルスコアの
いいところはそのまま受け継ぎ、
適度にモダン化しいい塩梅でした。
ちょっと話反れますが、
よくインディ・ジョーンズのテーマソングと似てるなぁと思っていたのですが
インディのテーマソングもウィリアムズ氏作曲だったんですね。
このリターンズのサントラで一番聞き応えのあるのは15曲目、
リプライズ/フライアウェイだと思います。
スーパーマンがラストで次世代の者にメッセージを残すシーンと、
これからも正義の味方として凛として生きていくことを決意したスーパーマンの心意が見事融合していて
（ちょっとスーパーマンのメインテーマの一節が入っているところもいい）名曲です。
スーパーマンって国境を越えてインターナショナルに愛されていますが
この音楽たちも聞いただけで元気出てきますね、アメリカ人じゃなくても。
ちょっと元気のないとき、outcastでも精一杯人のために頑張ってるスーパーマンの音楽を聴けば、頑張ろうと思えるかもしれません。
おまけでステッカーがついていました、あとQuickTimeというソフトをダウンロードしなければなりませんが
映画の予告、出演者、製作者へのインタビュー、
このサントラのレコーディング風景など映像特典もよかったです。
トランペットを吹くスーパーマン役、ブランドン　ラウス氏もちょこっと入っていました。

When I first heard that they were going to make a new Superman film, my first thought was "I hope they don't screw it up!" I am a huge fan of not only Superman, who is my favorite Superhero, but also of the original Christopher Reeves Superman, which I feel is the BEST interpretation of that character ever done. Additionally I am a RABID fan of the John Williams score and continue listening to it regularly to this day as well as being a filmscore afficionado (see my "screen name"!). Well, as soon as I saw the film "Superman Returns" I was THRILLED! Director Bryan Singer and company, who are also huge fans of the original film, PURPOSELY went out of their way to maintain the same feeling and flavor of that film in "Superman Returns", from the actor who portrays Superman/Clark Kent to AMAZING effect, even looking, sounding and moving like Christopher Reeves, to using an amazingly realistic digital "ghost" of the late Marlon Brando's "Jor-El" character! So how could ANYONE not understand WHY Director Singer and Composer John Ottman would utilize the incredible John Williams themes he wrote for the original films?! I read a review by an Amazon.com reviewer named Elisabeth Vincentelli which bashes Ottman for this choice. Well, Ms. Vincentelli CLEARLY doesn't understand either the purpose of the Director and Composer to stay true to the feeling of the original film or for that matter that the "Superman March" theme composed by John Williams has become and IS part of the Superman character now! It is as much a part of the character as the red and yellow "S" on the chest of his suit! In other words, I couldn't disagree with the sentiment expressed by Ms. Vincentelli MORE! John Ottman does an AMAZING job utilizing the John Williams themes while incorporating his own compositions into the score! Ottman knows just WHERE to use those themes and there are places where his love of them really comes through, such as the choral voices which accentuate the dramatic flourishes of the "Superman March" in some areas of the score, such as in the track "Saving The World", which gives me chills of excitement! His own original compositions are melodic and beautiful and powerful, especially the "secondary" theme he wrote for the Superman character which is best utilized in the tracks "So Long Superman" and "Little Secrets/Power of the Sun". Ottman has a complete grasp of Williams' score and no one could have done a better job in incorporating it into his own music for "Superman Returns". This was a HIGHLY underrated film which was INFINITELY better than it was given credit for and so is its score! As I said, I am a HUGE Superman fan, a huge fan of the Williams Superman theme, it IS part of the character of Superman and I think that anyone making a Superman film in the future would be FOOLS if they REMOVED that theme from the Superman character in their film. In fact, I wouldn't want to SEE a Superman film which DIDN'T have it in its score and at the time of this writing there IS a new Superman film in the works...we will see! As a last bit of advice, beware of ANYONE who claims to be an "expert" music critic, there's NO SUCH THING! My HIGHEST recommendations for the score to "Superman Returns" and Kudos to Composer John Ottman! Long Live Superman!

It was an amazing surprise watching the movie how well the music matched the mood and hearing it on its own, it sounds even better. The news to all fans that John Williams original march was being retained was sweet music to our ears and John Ottman has taken it and made this score entirely his own. the rousing theme melts into new and original melodies that soar and sweep just as they need to. This is a triumph and if you love the original, you'll love this too. That isn't to say it's just a rehash because it is far from that. It stands on its own and proves Ottman as a major player in his field. To give full praise is to say that this is every bit as good as the original and introduces whole new themes and new imagery in a new way yet never letting the material stray from what it is intended to be; a Superman score. This is a worthy addition to any soundtrack collector's archive and sounds amazingly good loud. How Could You Leave Us tears at heart strings and brings a smile with the tear waiting to fall. Immense. Love it! At this price, it's daylight robbery!
