2011年にパンデミックが起こり人類の99%が死亡、生き残った人類がなんとか治療法を見つけ
その後400年未来まで生きながらえていた世界の話、ディストピア系の話。
のっけから奇抜な服装の人物が登場して、格好良さとはまた違った趣が感じられた。
他にも、情報伝達の手段がこう･･･情報の詰まったピルが胃で溶けて脳に直接届く･･･とか
その情報の詰まったピルをディープキスで渡すとか、
奇抜さと衝撃とが丁度いい具合の絵になって見せられる。
けど、前半部分にあった変な格好をした女性二人が変なポーズを取りながらアクションしていく様が
中々にシュールで、見ていて若干気分が冷める。
（アクションシーンを見ているというより体操を見せられているような感じがする）
それから、いやに情熱的なキスが多いのもちょっとげんなりする。
そのへんが気にはなった。

見てたら気付いたが、結構和風というか、和モダンなデザインの背景が多く出てくる。
日の丸みたいな意匠も度々でてくる。
それらがなんというか･･･洗練されていて、毅然とした佇まいを醸し出している風で、
違和感、非日常感を漂わせている。緊張してしまうというか。
しかも、人々の日常風景が映る場面に多くこの和風モダンなテイストが在るので
どことなく上品な高級感もまた感じられる。
この辺が現代と比べると一層異質な雰囲気、空気感が
この映画の雰囲気をも作り出しているような感じがする。

まあ本当に和風かと言うと何処か中国っぽい感じもあるから
気持ちが素直に馴染めないだけかもしれないが。
それに、やっぱりシュールさも醸し出してるし。
（忍者っぽい戦闘員とか、イーオンの相棒ポジションにいたシサンドラが水遁を使ってる描写とか）

この物語が始まったきっかけの話というか、裏設定と言うか、ストーリーの根幹は結構好き。
ウイルスの脅威から生き残れた代わりに新しい子どもを作れなくなってしまった人類。
ただし、女性の身体はまだ子供を腹の中で育てて産むことは出来る。
人類を存続させるためにクローン技術で命をつなぐ内に、それが実質的に｢無自覚な永遠の命｣となってしまい
新しい子供が出来ないという隠された問題とともに人々の悩みの種になってしまっている。
最初こそはこれらを解決すべく動いていた人物がいつしか｢永遠の命｣に固執するようになり、
その環境を維持し、その選択の正当性を保ち続けるために
障害となる要素を潰すべく暗躍していた･･･
という真相。

なかなか話が見えてこない序盤こそは退屈だったけど、話が見えさえすれば結構面白い物語だなと思う。

｢無自覚な永遠の命｣という病的な状況、存在することに疲弊感をもたらしてしまう｢縛り｣から
人々を解き放つようにして遺伝子バンクの飛行船を墜落させ、
（病気の蔓延していた）壁の外の世界を開く主人公。
｢これで前に進める　
　一度きりの本物の人生を生きて死んでいける
　次代に未来を託して――｣
と語る主人公。
一見するとエゴから取った行動のようでもあったが、
物語の真相、状況の改善の糸口を潰されていたという背景から考えれば
あれはスッキリとした結末だったと思う。

けどやっぱり衣装のシュールさがずっと気になってた･･･
シャーリーズ・セロンは好きだけど、あの防御力のなさそうな肌の露出した服装がどうも気になる･･･

映像とかアクションとか凄く金かかってそうな映画だけど全然面白く無い。
何が面白く無いのか追及したくもない程。
作った人達には申し訳ない気がするが満たされるものは無い映画だった。
この手のは数年後にその存在を記憶から消去されていて又見てしまう事になる作品。

それとも、永遠に終わることのない旅を続けたいですか？

これは、意見が分かれる問題だと思います。
私は命には終わりがあるからこそ儚くて人生は輝くものだと思っています。

「クローン」という課題を改めて考えさせられました。
物語の裏にある意図を感じ取りたいなら是非見るべきではないか。

シャーリーズ・セロンの美しさを楽しむ映画です。

という冗談はさて置き、好みは割れそうなものの駄作というほど悪くはない作品だと思います。
舞台が2400年代な時点でリアリティは諦めるべきでしょうし、違和感は捨てて世界観を飲み込んでしまった方が楽しめます。CGのクオリティは高くはないですが、私は見てられない程でもなかったです。
アクションは原作アニメやコミックス版を彷彿とさせる独特な演出もありましたが、終始スタイリッシュで見ていて感心しました。未来的な建築物やスパイアイテムも見ていて楽しかったです。監督さんのお父様が日本に縁があるそうでところどころに日本的なテイストが散りばめられており、世界観のアクセントとなっていますが、如何せんストーリーはアクセントどころかさして大きな波もなく淡々と進んでいくので映画全体の雰囲気がハマらなかった人には退屈な作品かもしれません。B級とまでは言いませんが一流映画ではないことも確かなのでお時間のある方、シャーリーズ・セロンが好きな方、ストーリーは別として女性のアクション作品が好きな方は見て損はない作品だと思います。

それにしてもシャーリーズの一挙手一投足の美しいこと。歩くだけでこんなに絵になる女優もなかなかいない。
CGめいた美貌が世界観にマッチしていて、彼女の完成された造形の美しさで作り込まれた背景と生身の人間が一体化するような不思議な感覚が湧いてきました。スク○ニゲームのキャラクターみたい……

ネタバレになるが、クローンを扱った作品の中では一番感動した
まず未来という設定を作者なりの世界観で映画としては徹底的に作り込んでいると思う ただ作成されたときより年数が経ってるので未来の姿としては少し違和感あるがそこを踏まえると良くできていると思う
B級などと言われているがB級にしてはお金も手間もかかった作品
トレヴァー、オーレン、イーオン、そして民衆の観点と思惑からみるとちゃんとストーリーが見えてくる
一度きりの人生をしっかり生きよう

This movie is awesome! I watched it a while ago and then recently purchased the Blu-ray. As a sci-fi aficionado and the proud owner of literally thousands of tiles of books and videos from this genre, I really did find this movie enjoyable. Some other movies that have similar themes would include: The Island, Logan’s Run, the Giver, and perhaps the Hunger Games and Divergent.

Format: Blu-Ray
The Blu-ray disk has all of the extras that are included with the standard DVD, but nothing else. I was hoping for some additional material, but that’s fine. You still have all the behind the scenes and making of the moving shorts that are included on the DVD. The Blu-ray is noticeably more detailed than the DVD, but not in a huge way, just noticeably. In fact, from about eight feet on 55” plasma, there is only a subtle difference. You have to remember this movie was made ten years ago when Blu-ray was just developing. So, the Bu-ray could just be an early press of DVD into the blue-ray format. That said, for the ridiculously low cost of this Blu-ray, I would recommend it over the DVD.
Movie:
The movie has become one of my favorites. The entire concept, plot, script, acting – everything, is first rate. This is not a “B” movie. With the proper marketing and perhaps a different ending, this movie could have been a blockbuster.

Background:
In the early 1990’s MTV launched Liquid TV with included a series of animated short shows set to popular music from that time period and featured a number of independent artists. Beavis and Butt-Head, for example, came out of Liquid TV. Aeon Flux was a cartoon character anti-hero who fought against the establishment in a futuristic dystopia where the world was run by a corrupt régime. Aeon Flux, herself, was this impossibly drawn fantasy woman with an impossibly tall, slender, curvaceous body in a black skin-tight superhero vinyl outfit (think the Selene character in the Underworld series bumped up several notches or Julie Newmar as Catwoman from the 1960’s Batman series and turned into a cartoon). At the end of each episode, she would get killed. That’s the premise.

Synopsis:
The Aeon Flux movie ran with the basic premise cartoon and turned into something of a thriller. It kept the main characters from the cartoon and added a really cool twist. However, for fans of the very un-nerving cartoon, this movie will probably seem slow and watered down. I do not think so, but I could see where some might. The movie is about a utopian society where everything appears wonderful on the outside, but there is trouble brewing. A deadly virus had wiped out most of the human race. A scientist, Treavor Goodchild, discovered a cure and what was left of the human race lives in this giant walled city. Aeon is part of a secret resistance trying to overthrow the apparently corrupt government. However, as we learn, not everyone in the government is corrupt. And, the whole society is the way it is for good reason. The leader of the government, Trevor Goodchild (who is supposed to be a descendant of the original Goodchild), is her sworn enemy and the person she is ordered to kill by the resistance. However, Trevor is not the evil ruler she thinks he is. In fact, Aeon is not who she thinks she is. I’m not going to spoil the plot for those who have not seen it. These are a number reviews here on amazon that do a good job of describing the movie in detail. Suffice it to say the plot is exciting, believable, and fully developed. You get into the movie rather quickly and then it confuses you with you with hidden motives and a dark secret that no one seems to know. It’s really good. I completely disagree with all the reviewers who claim the story is predicable or unoriginal. They may be comparing it to the disturbing original cartoon, or maybe don’t appreciate the production quality. The writers had to take a cartoon character and invent an entire storyline that translates onto the big screen. They did a good job. It works.

Charlize Theron is spectacular. She comes as close to the cartoon perfection of Aeon Flux as a real human could. Her movements and expressions are perfect. She is entirely believable in this roll. If you watch the extras you learn that she spent months learning how to fight and perfecting all the acrobatics. She did the stunts herself! There is this one scene where she comes out of a jump and is about to land when sharp knives come up out of the ground. She lands on the ends of her toes with her legs spread completely out sideways from her body at the last minute and balances on an edge with her face just above the knives. You learn in the extras that she really did physically contort her body and do that move – amazing!

My only criticism of the movie is that I didn’t want it to end. The ending is pretty final. Everything is revealed, there is complete closure. No chance for a sequel. The movie could have very easily been split into two – even three parts. If it were a trilogy it would have been perfect. The first movie could be about Aeon the rebel; fighting the establishment. The second movie could be about the death of her sister and Aeon going on a personal vendetta against Trevor. The final instalment could be about discovering the truth and then working with Trevor to save the human race. Having all of this in one short movie is a lot to take in.

If you are a sci-fi fan, give it a try. To me, Aeon Flux is an awesome sci-fi ride with a perfect performance from a brilliant actress. A must have for your collection!

Il ne faut pas s'arrêter au premier visionnage d'Aeon Flux. Vu à la va-vite, ce film apparaît comme un enieme film sur des sociétés futures dictatoriales post-apolyptique. C'est "Hunger Games" et le "Dôme de cristal" en même temps, passés à la moulinette d'une esthétique flamboyante. Oui, il y a de cela et ne serait-ce pour cette simple raison que ce film serait déjà réussi.

Par contre, le sujet principal est celui de la valeur de la vie et du choix qui peut être fait entre un système de reproduction par clonage et le don de la vie par des voies favorisant le croisement des individus. Dans la société d'Aeon Flux, une épidémie passée à réduit les habitants de la Terre a une poignée de personnes qui ne peuvent plus se reproduire naturellement. D'une manière temporaire, la voie du clonage a été instituée, l'ADN des personnes décédées étant récupéré avant d'être réimplanté dans l'anonymat à des mères porteuses. Cette voie temporaire a généré un système politique qui, dans le film, tend à vouloir se perpétuer, quand bien même la recherche ouvre des solutions à une autre voie de reproduction. La science rejoint ici la politique et surtout la tentation du pouvoir éternel.

Le film est interessant car toute la question du clonage et de la perfection génétique avec la sélection des individus est mise sur la table. Par l'élimination des imperfections génénitiques, le film nous renvoie une image de la science dévoyée car elle sélectionne au lieu de soigner. N'est-ce pas déjà ce que nous faisons avec le diagnostic pré-implantatoire qui permet d'éliminer les embryons porteurs de maladies génétiques ? Nous ne voyons plus de malades non pas parce qu'ils ont été soignés, mais parce qu'on ne leur a pas permis de naître. Aeon Flux porte ce thème en filigrane et est à ce titre intéressant même si la fin du film est plus convenu.

La grande réussite de ce film est liée à l'esthétique de cet univers ; le décors des villes, les costumes. Aussi aux scènes d'action très chorégraphiées qui donnent une impression de ballet propret issu d'une séquence de jeu vidéo. Avouons-le, la plastique impeccable de Charlize Théron m'a tapé dans l'oeil (et pas que pour ce film) mais au-delà de sa combinaison moulante affriolante, son jeu est vraiment bien. Voilà une actrice qui porte le film de bout en bout, s'investit beacoup dans les scènes d'action avec un grand professionalisme. Elle réussit à donner à son personnage d'Aeon Flux une personnalité à la fois glaçante par sa perfection formelle mais aussi très touchante par cette humanité cachée qui refait surface au fur et à mesure que les souvenirs enfouis dans son ADN affluent.

Un très bon film de SF à regarder et garder.
