Touches OF BENT Brilliance But... this is really the more electric and poppy side of bent I would say. If you have heard the any of their other magical music you can see how this has the sound of Bent and a different slant but its ok. Its a bit experimental which shows as they are versatile and they open the door to a new bent perhaps? As their albums progress though I am slightly less impressed I think. Once a sound which had distinctly haunting sounds and weird wonderful backdrops to strange, etherial vocals which you don't hear as much is this record. This album starts off with a more vibrant and electric almost punk feel which is way different to Everlasting blink or Ariels, which has some really lovely mellow vocal tracks. I would say that Ariels is my fav which is squishy and lovely and very chilled. But Programmed to love is more classic Daft Tronica Bent. You can feel their skills and talents expressed in various forms whilst keeping that signature bent flavour throughout. I can personally recommend Bents 'Art Of Chill' compilation as it is beautifully thought out and super chilled in an original and rare way. If you like the funkier side of bent get their Fabric offering, it's disco, daft, soul, funk, oldskool, melodic all wrapped into a mix.
Bent has produced some eerily beatiful tracks that I've come to love. However, I just don't see anything in the songs on "Intercept". As another reviewer pointed out, this album goes in a decidedly different direction, and I decidedly don't like it!
Bent's other albums seem to be filled with a beautiful, sublime emotion that is difficult to put words to. I find that feeling missing from "Intercept". I'm giving this album two stars instead of one because I like the first track ("Excercise 7")
I like many others have struggled with this album. The euphoria of 'Exercise 7' , thinking "this is gonnna be a good one" is confirmed by 'To Be loved' which builds into a great tune, is brought down to earth with a crash when the Awful lyrics on 'Tired of the show', had me scrambling for the 'skip' button. tracks 6 and 7 are to my ears a little awkward, but then, in typically Bent fashion, the last four tracks contain absolute gems like 'To be loved', which i absolutely love, possibly one of my all time faves. In summary, i think i'll copy the album and delete 'Tired of the show' and be a very happy boy!
