Though no expert, I enjoy traditional jazz but have never been a fan of modern/progressive jazz (if that's the term for it)until I heard a track of this being played on Jamie Cullum's Tuesday jazz programme a few weeks ago. Had it not been on a jazz programme, I probably wouldn't have even known it was jazz, it reminded me more of slightly druggy concept album type music from the 1960s (which sadly I'm old enough to remember) I bought the album and haven't been disappointed. The whole CD is very much in the concept album vein, less rocky and varied than Pink Floyd or Jefferson Airplane but a similar 'feel.' From my point of view, OK to listen to and concentrate on as music but great as background when doing something else (I've listen to it for everything from painting to ironing!) or at a party.
If you are into the Ninjatune label at all and their many compilations throughout the years, this record has a similar style, but with a live band. The drummer here is great and the whole band sounds a like a DJ spinning. One of most diverse albums I have heard in a while. Kind of reminds me of MMW mixed with Tuatara mixed with DJ Shadow. Great for a critical listen or music background music. Fans of jazz or electronic music should check this out.

Nearly ruined by the continual voiceovers and audio clips establishing the retro-future setting they imagined for the album. I really didn't need that, and find it makes the disc almost unlistenable. It would have been more effective if done in a much more subtle way.
