おとぎの国のバトル・ロイヤル!次の王様は誰だ!?
フィオナ姫と幸せな新婚生活を送っていたシュレック。
病に倒れた父王ハロルドから跡を継ぐようにといわれるが、そんなの絶対ムリ!

„Shrek der Dritte“ ist ein absolut lustiger und unterhaltsamer Film, der sowohl Kinder als auch Erwachsene begeistern wird. Die Fortsetzung der Shrek-Filmreihe liefert erneut eine gelungene Mischung aus humorvollen Dialogen, cleveren Anspielungen und herzerwärmenden Charakteren.

Die Animation des Films ist beeindruckend und die visuellen Effekte sind atemberaubend. Jede Szene ist voller Farbe und Details, die die Zuschauer in die fantastische Welt von Shrek eintauchen lassen. Die Charaktere sind liebenswert und haben ihre einzigartigen Persönlichkeiten, die für viele Lacher sorgen.

Die Handlung ist gut durchdacht und bietet eine interessante Entwicklung der Charaktere. Shrek, Fiona, Esel und alle anderen bekannten Figuren nehmen die Zuschauer mit auf ein neues Abenteuer voller Spaß und unerwarteter Wendungen.

Neben dem humorvollen Aspekt enthält der Film auch wichtige Botschaften über Freundschaft, Zusammenarbeit und die Bedeutung des inneren Wertes.

Insgesamt ist „Shrek der Dritte“ ein absoluter Genuss für die ganze Familie. Es ist ein Film, den man immer wieder anschauen kann und der jedes Mal ein Lächeln auf die Gesichter der Zuschauer zaubert. Ein absoluter Klassiker, der in keiner Filmsammlung fehlen sollte.

This is a review of the 2007 animated comedy, ‘Shrek the Third’. We watched it on the 2011 All Region Blu-ray from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. It plays in colourful, sharp, 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen, with superb 7.1 Dolby TrueHD sound. There are masses of extras. This is an inexpensive visual delight.

We tend to think of our favourite ogre and his universe arriving on our screens, as though by magic. But he was actually the creation of an American cartoonist and illustrator, William Steig, born in New York to Polish-Jewish parents in 1907, and who died in Boston, at the age of 95. He just lived to see his creation reach the Silver Screen, becoming a household name, and a favourite of children everywhere.

The lovable green ogre, Shrek, and his adorable wife, Princess Fiona, first moved to film in ‘Shrek’ in 2001, and their impact was immediately apparent. The film won the very first ‘Animated’ OSCAR in 2001, beating Pixar-Disney’s fabulous ‘Monsters, Inc.’. The sequel, ‘Shrek 2’(2004), was, unusually, as good as the original, as well as introducing a winning new character, wily Spanish-accented Puss in Boots, who has appeared in all the sequels, as well as generating his own brilliant spin-off and sequel in 2011 and 2022. ‘Shrek 2’ was OSCAR-nominated.

In this film, several of the characters introduced in ‘Shrek 2’, make a further bow. Besides Shrek, Fiona, Puss, and their friend, the ever-cheerful Donkey, we also meet again Queen Lillian and King Harold, Fiona’s parents. And Prince Charming, the villain of ‘Shrek 2’, again takes centre stage as the baddie. These characters are voiced by an array of top-flight acting talent. Canadian-born Mike Myers sounds convincingly Scottish, as Shrek; Cameron Diaz, a million miles away from green and homely in real life, plays Fiona; Eddie Murphy is a wisecracking optimist as Donkey; Antonio Banderas brings brisk Spanish brio to Puss; Julie Andrews plays the Queen as a determined, resourceful and ever-youthful older woman; John Cleese hams it up outrageously as the King. Rupert Everett reprises his role as Charming, playing it affected and self-obsessed, with a cut-glass English accent. Meanwhile Eric Idle and Justin Timberlake are worthy new arrivals, as Merlin, and Arthur Pendragon.

One of the running gags, and strengths of both ‘Shrek’ and the ‘Puss in Boots’ spin-offs, is their use of classic fairy tale, children’s literature and nursery rhyme characters, to populate the stories. Here, several famous ‘damsels’, including Cinderella, Rapunzel and Snow White appear, together with Pinocchio, baddies from ‘Peter Pan’, and famous names from the Arthurian legends. The plot is a glorious mash-up of fairy story, college chaos, adventure and romance, with humour, fun and loads of clever allusions, sight gags and in-jokes. As with the earlier films, this has masses to appeal to even the youngest viewer (and it is a ‘U’ Certificate), but all the grown-up kids, from 20 to 120, will also thoroughly enjoy it! 5 joyful Stars.
