ハイライトは最後の『Under The Sun』。

Everytime I Turn、Pet Hate、Under The Sun。
Burn Faster、So In Love、Forgot My Nameが聴きやすいだろう。

THE GREAT DIVIDE
Well, at least if opinion is anything to go by. But make no mistake, 'Love/Hate' is a superb follow-up to 'Everything Is', it just requires a little longer to get used to, that's all. It is, of course, a given that bands evolve and their sound changes but the essence of what made NINE BLACK ALPS so damn adrenal in the first place is still very much in evidence here.
'Bitter End' opens the album and, I have to say, at first I was a little concerned that the jagged edges so raw and exposed on their debut had been softened beyond rightful expectation. Common sense and logic soon prevailed, however; more a case of the band presenting a deliberately mainstream production with the emphasis on melody, and possibly a shot at the charts to boot. So I needn't have worried, it's still a good song. 'Burn Faster' and every track thereafter - with the sole exception of 'Future Wife' (can't pin it down, just plain bleurghh) - shows that they have not lost sight of their reason to exist at very high volumes. And as did 'Just Friends' previously, so did 'So In Love' once again evoke the ghost of Buzzcocks, circa 1978, easily recreating that initial nostalgic smile and a distant urge to, er, pogo (look it up). But the standouts this time around shine very brightly indeed and are the very apt 'Happiness And satisfaction' and 'Heavier Than water'.
Pop/rock/grunge/indie brilliance - love 'em or hate 'em, you really shouldn't ignore them.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Their Best.

I got all of albums. Since there is a lack of reviews on here I have to say: Its that good:
-Burn faster
-Everytime I Turn (so good you have to hear it twice before continuing onward)
-Painless
-Heavier Than Water (best song)
-Happiness and Satisfaction
-Forget My Name
Those songs listed above are my favorite, 3 others are good and like 2 songs are not that big of a deal. This shows that the majority of the album is worth hearing each time you listen to it. This is their best record.

A Welcome return

NB - I have not listened to this album yet! However, the tracklisting is familiar to those of us fortunate enough to have seen NBA live this year. Burn faster is an obvious single as is Bitter End and, I would guess Future Wife. For those who enjoyed the grungier elements of 'Everything Is', the new stuff will appeal equally. The boys have retained their hard edge, whilst keeping a close eye on melody. My fave track is definitely Heavier Than Water. Perhaps Shot Down will soon be replaced as a show closer. However, having listened to the production on the 5 track snippet available throguh the band's website, some of the edge has been taken away from the live shows. It's a jump forward, like Nirvana did from 'Bleach' to 'Nevermind'. This is not a criticism as it may enble NBA to get the valuable radio play which has so far prevented them from becoming HUGE, which they deserve to be. Great songs, great musicianship. I await a live album release!

This Album As Good As Their First!

I found out about Nine Black Alps about four years ago from the Filter Magazine online newsletter. Bought their first album and loved it. This one carries on in the same tradition. A bit Nirvana, a bit good old hard rock, but all great!
