It's probably preaching to the choir, but if you enjoy jazz, particularly piano trios, you owe it to yourself to own at least one recording where Tommy Flanagan is the featured performer. Musically articulate, the man had the chops to play anything, but the taste to never play anything trite or mundane. There aren't that many recordings available with Tommy leading a group and this is as good a place as any to become familiar with his playing if you're not already.
The first time I heard Tommy Flanagan my ears grew just a bit sharper. His magic is real. He plays with his electrical circuitry. This film shows him and the bass and drum players in complete agreement. Lots of eye contact between them. Want to know how it's done? Watch this.
Lovely wonderful music. Mr Flanagan's playing is simply marvellous. Required listening for lovers of good music and musicianship, whether or not you like jazz.
