'Slick Dogs & Ponies' sounds like a totally different band than the one that played on Louis XIV debut, 'Best Little Secrets Are Kept'. But the good news is that this release is just as good and more ambitious. Some people are criticizing their new direction, but great bands...from The Beatles to U2 are always reinventing themselves. So why degrade them for not becoming complacent? I loved their 1st album but they now have my respect as well. I wonder where their third release will lead them.

Jason Hill's vocal style bounces from John Lennon with "Hopesick" to Bon Scott with "Misguided Sheep" to even Ian Lloyd like blue-eyed soul with "Tina". Check this talented band out...Louis XIV are one of the most creative bands today and deserve to be heard..
