It's difficult to get hold of Anime Genre music on CD, so it's nice to get one from one of my favourite films, at a reasonable price and a fast delivery as well.
In regaurds to the product itself, while I am aware moist of them are remakes from the original series, it is nice to hear them all again. I personally like like the new versions, as well as the new pieces of music that can be found in the movie only as well.
The only thing that I dislike is the fact that a majority of the tracks have no title or name for example, Track 7 is referred to as: EM05B#070720, while the piece is easily recognisable as "The Beast" from the original, but it is a minor detail that can be over looked.
If your a fan of the film, you will really enjoy this soundtrack, and if your a fan of the original Evangelion series then you may enjoy this remix of your favourite tunes.

Though not without flaws, a powerful new spin on classic Evangelion themes

Shiro Sagisu's score to "Evangelion: You Are (Not) Alone" consists almost entirely of rearranged music from the Neon Genesis Evangelion television series. These rearragements, on the whole, pack more punch than their original counterparts--the arrangements of "Angel Attack," "The Beast," "Marking Time, Waiting for Death," and the two arrangements of "A Step Forward into Terror" possibly surpass their original incarnations when it comes to impact--the bass is deeper, percussion has more punch to it, etc. Some songs, however, such as Misato's or Asuka's themes, remain completely unchanged. There are also several original compositions by Sagisu, including a sped-up version of "Angel Attack" with added lyrics sung by a "Carmina Burana" epic choir. There are a few other tracks that uses this technique and are wholly original constructs--unfortunately, they have no name.
This is the one most obvious downside of the album: None of Sagisu's songs have what one would call "real" titles. They have titles like "EM01#070720" and "EM18_Rhythm03_Premix#070705," which can make finding the song you're looking for out of the 38-track album a bit of a pain. Another disappointment with this album is Rei's theme: There are three tracks that arrange the haunting melody; one is seventeen seconds long and cuts out horrendously abruptly; another is twenty-four seconds long and ends just as abruptly; the third is forty-five seconds long and, thankfully, makes it through a single iteration of the melody before concluding. At first, I thought my CD was faulty, so I downloaded a copy of the album. It was then that I found that it wasn't a problem with my CD--the songs are supposed to be like that. Maybe I just don't get it.
One "iffy" thing about this CD are the sheer number of arrangements of "Spending Time in Preparation," the rousing timpani beat that, fans have noticed, bears a slight resemblance to John Barry's "007 Theme." There are eight [!] arrangements on this album, making up 21% of the songs on this CD (but, thankfully, not 21% of the album's 79-minute length, as few of these eight arrangements pass the one-minute mark). It's not that it's a bad song--but does it need this much representation? It's like the Neon Genesis Evangelion OST Vol. III having twelve different arrangements of "Fly Me to the Moon."
There are also several pop songs on the CD: Utada Hikaru sings "Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)," as well as "Beautiful World." Also included are three songs by Kotono Mitsuishi, "You Are the Only One," "Legend Underneath," and "Fall in Star." All of these songs are enjoyable to listen to.
All in all, this is a good album despite its repetitive nature, although one may want to look at "Music from Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone" instead.
