One of my favourite albums. Would highly recommend to any fans of fast-paced 00's UK indie rock, eg. The Cribs, Libertines, Los Campesinos! etc. I'd describe them as 'like LC! but better': breakneck pace, layer-on-layer of infectious hooks, shouty co-ed vocals plus utterly incomprehensible lyrics which are nevertheless irresistible to sing (shout?) along to. Pretty much every track is brilliant (maybe 'Henning's Favourite' is the one slightly weak link), so it's hard to pick highlights, but if pushed I'd go with 'Cranes and Cranes...', 'Salt, Peppa and Spinderella' and 'Sometimes, in the Bullring' - the last of these is for me the quintessential JoFo track which I'd recommend listening to first if you want to know if you'll like this album. As great as JoFo's subsequent albums have been, they've never quite matched this. (If possible get the US version of the CD which includes 'Champagne Girls I Have Known' as a bonus track, which is another album highlight).
This album is one of those underrated masterpieces that few people know about. The album is incredible, with more than 15 tacks the album has songs for every taste of music ranging from a lot of genres, the boy-girl vocals are amazing, and some of the lyrics are deep while others are just sarcastic and humorous. A great CD for anyone who loves bands like Los Campesinos, The Constantines or Sarah Records Twee Pop movement.
