This recording features one of the greatest line ups in the history of Jazz; Live at the 1972 Monterey Jazz Festival. Dizzy, Monk, Blakey, Stitt, Winding, Terry Wow! I have several recording of this group on records and cd's and now this gem. Grab it while its still available, before it gets released on a cheap bootleg. Well done and thank you Monterey Jazz Festival Records.
This is a 4 star review instead of a 5 because I missed Dizzy. I really liked the playing of Little Jazz and Mumbles, but I missed the enthusiasm of Mr. Gillespie. The sound is OK and Blakey admirably fills in the introduction role, but it is not the same. Eldridge and Terry do a fine job and the other Giants seem more freed to perform, it's just that I miss Dizzy (who seemed to treat this as his group).
