All the pieces and the players are superb. A special shout out to Eric Harland for his drumming on Harvesting Dance.
For those who love modern jazz and still have an abiding love of the early Grateful Dead (all 7-10 of you), Harvesting Dance, to my ears, bears an uncanny resemblance both in energy and structure to the Dead’s June 23, 1974 version of Spanish Jam, available on Dave’s Picks Vol. 34. Heady, powerful stuff!
I repeat: this is an extraordinary recording. Get it.
P.S. Mike Moreno’s Lotus has most of the same players and is also terrific.
Brilliant album that is so atmospheric and great at keeping the mood. When I first bought it I'd only heard "Peaceful Warrior" (amazing track), it definitely is not my favourite off this album. This album has a very varied approach to it's songs in that they keep progressing even though you can recognize the feel of the theme introduced at the start.
I'd highly reccomend it to any Jazz fan and I am proud to have this CD on my shelf.
