2008 digitally re-mastered two-fer from the Memphis vocal group containing a pair of their classic albums on one CD: Hooked on a Feeling (1972) and Having a Party (1973). Hooked on a Feeling is an exquisite slice of vocal harmony, as producer Dan Greer guides the group through 10 selections that show off all of their talents. Having a Party sees Louis harmonizing with Dan Greer and George Jackson and scoring the biggest hit of his career with Sam Cooke's title track. It is also a sublime collection of tunes that include some fantastic Dan Greer originals and an amazing version of the tune of the moment, 'A Change Is Gonna Come'. Features extensive sleeve notes and original illustrations. Kent.

あの！「At The Harlem Square Club」ラストのサム・クック作も次作表題と、70年代サム・クック・マナーの3人組。「Hooked On A Feeling」So Nice To Be Loved By You　、「Having A Party」I Can't Believe It's Overなど、そう言われたらしい形容そのもの。

私がソウルを聞き始めた２０数年前、LPレコードが主流で、CDは出始めでした。

Hooked On A FeelingはLPで買って持っていましたが、CDが以前出たときには買い漏らしてしまい、Ovationsのアルバムで唯一CDを持っていないものでした。

まさに待望。

歌う喜び、演奏する喜びが溢れています。

とくにHooked 〜は全曲名曲と言ってもよく、とりわけ最初のタイトル曲は至福です。音楽を聴く喜びが、この３分強に詰まっています。自分の葬式には、これかけてほしいなぁ。

ソウル好きで、もしまだこれを持っていない方がいたら、廃盤・品切れになる前に絶対に手に入れるべきです。

I first heard Louis Williams and the Ovations in Memphis where they are from in 1965. Being an avid fan and admirer of Sam Cooke, I was naturally drawn to the Ovations for their "Sam Cooke" sound. They are not imitators of Cooke even though they do some of his music. and do it well. They have a distinct sound of their own and really compliment the Sam Cooke material that they do. They sing with much feelings and emotions going from joy to sorrow; Gospel to blues. Louis Williams died in 2002, and I believe he and Sam Cooke are both making great music together in that Heavenly choir. If you like the Sam Cooke sound, you will love the Ovations and appreciate what they do to Sam's material like "Having a Party" medley.

I really am enjoying this CD. Every since I got it I put it in the car and have been listening to it ever since. The Leader sounds just a little like Sam Cooke on some of the songs, but just a little. No one can sing like Sam Cooke. I have their version of Having A Party on a "45". So like I said very good music and I would recommend it to anyone.
