Truly progressive, forward-thinking hip-hop in the late 2000's? I didn't think such a thing existed. Underground hip-hop reached its apex in the late '90s/early '00s with the release of a flurry of classic albums by Company Flow, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, MF Doom, Buck 65, and many others. Subsequent releases by these and other artists solidified underground rap's position, but didn't advance it. Until now.

...no more so than contemporary life (moments of joy DO exist...). It's also thoughtful, poetic and has original arrangements, textures and samples. To me it's a concept album and (while I'm certainly no expert) if you dig DJ Signify, Dday One, Blockhead and Buck 65 type stuff you will dig Terradactyl. I'd be more inclined to 4.5 stars, but I can't select a half.
