Just a word of warning to anyone else that is considering buying one of these, you will not only need a plug adaptor but a transformer as well since the Japanese equipment runs on 100v compared to our 240v.
Looking over at my melted yogurt maker feeling a little gutted right now.

I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and have been looking into the Specific Carbohydrate Diet to control my flair ups. I have found that an essential part of the diet is 24 Hr SCD Yoghurt which is fermented/digested for a period of 24 Hrs. (Google "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" for more details). The most important thing is keeping the temperature between 38 and 43 Deg C (100 to 110 Deg F) for the 24 Hr period but the problem is that all the mainstream Retail Yoghurt Makers tend to rise above 43 Deg C after about 6 hours and start killing off the good bacteria your trying to encourage. I've seen reviews of people trying to control the temperature with an in-line dimmer switch with varied success but good luck to them. Well, long story short, here is the solution. I set the temperature to 40 Deg C and have verified that it maintains that temerature between 40 and 41 Deg C for the full 24Hrs and produces perfect yoghurt to boot. Don't be put off that you have to order from Japan as it is excellent quality and there are only three buttons on the unit (Set Temp, Set Timer and Start/Stop) so you don't need a degree in Japanese to operate the unit. I cannot recommend this unit highly enough to anyone on or interested in the SCD diet.
