【ストーリー】

平凡な一軒家で幸せに暮らす若いカップル。しかし毎晩寝付いた後に家の様子がいつもと変わっていることに気づく。
少女の頃から不可思議なことが起こり続けているケイティは、その原因が自分にあるのではないかと感じていた。

彼女の恋人であるミカは自分達の家に起こっている“何か”を突き止めるため、生活の一部始終をビデオカメラで撮影することにする。
テープが回り始め、ミカの執着が大きくなっていく一方で、ケイティは不安を募らせていった。なぜならその“何か”は、ビデオカメラで撮影されるのを嫌がっているような気がしたのだ。

ミカはケイティの忠告には耳を傾けず、自らの家と、自らが愛する女性を守るため、カメラを回し続けることを決断する。

真夜中、2人が眠りについた後、何か起きているのか―。
ビデオには衝撃の映像が映っていた・・・。

ずっと気になっていて今更見ました。結構ホラー好きでグロいのやら色々見ていますが、その中でもこの作品はビデオ撮影風の所がリアルっぽくてかなり怖かったです。
ジメジメして蒸し暑い夏に見たら
涼しくなれることでしょう。
ヒヤッとしたい方におすすめです。

低予算で作られた作品のため登場人物はほぼ二人、ほとんどの話が一軒の家の中で進行します。しかし不穏な「何か」に取り憑かれてしまった女性とその彼氏が残した映像記録という設定が上手く合わさってどうなるのか最後まで知りたくなる魅力があります。残念なのは彼氏の方の行動に全然共感できないところと恐怖の煽り方がチープなところです。

怖がらせる演出が安っぽい
急にでかい音たてられて驚くけど、怖いとは言わない
布団がヒラヒラしてるのを見せられても、はぁとしか

伏線が全然回収されない
彼氏が色々とマジメな調査をしていたが、後の展開に繋がったのはウジャ盤からサイトにたどり着いた事のみ。それも深堀することなく終了。質問にYesだと1回うなるとか、足跡がつくとかも、２度と出てこない。
悪魔の方も色々やってくる。彼女に憑依して外に連れ出すとか、写真割るとか、屋根裏に焼けた写真を置くとか。そういった諸々をすべて置き去りにして、最終的には憑依からのマッチョパワーで彼氏をぶっ飛ばした。最初からそうしろ。

なぜ演出の１つ１つがバラバラなのか。伏線ではなく怖がらせるだけの演出だからだろう。
なぜ他のホラー映画では導入でしか使われないようなチープな演出しかないのか。この映画が低予算だからだろう。

もっと金をかけて作るか、脚本を練ってほしい。

視界が限られている中でいつまでも家の中の限られた部分した映らないのでイライラが収まらない。そして主人公カップルの会話もいつまでたっても同じ繰り返しなのでさらにイライラする。いつまでたっても何も変化がない。そしてやはり解決されない。最初から最後まで薄味で中身がスカッスカ。彼が悪魔払いをひたすら拒否するので悪魔は彼に取り憑いたのかと思ったら違うのね。

小難しい話の展開はなく「悪魔に取り憑かれている女」の物語
当時中学生の自分は映画館で観て衝撃を受け、お金もないのにDVD発売と同時に買って何回も観ました。

作品は勿論怖いのですが怖い物を見たくて今でも見ているという訳ではありません。
簡単なので何も考えずとも見られる面白い作品です。今までに何十回、もしかすると１００回以上見ているかもしれません。とても好きな作品です。

できればヘッドホンで観て欲しいです
映画館の音響やヘッドホンでなければこの良さはわからないと思います。

以前スピーカーで見たところ退屈で見ていられませんでした

予算が少ないという点を逆に活用し、モキュメンタリー形式にすることにより特殊な生々しさが出ていると思う
個人的には恐怖演出も洋ホラーでありがちなとりあえず怖い顔どーんのジャンプスケアもりもりというより（音でビビらせる演出は後半につれ多くなるものの）実態のわからない何かが迫っている表現が多くて好みだったし、作品全体としてあくまで現実で起こったこととして描かれているので、何も知らない状態で見たり、ホラー映画やモキュメンタリーを見る習慣がない人ほど楽しめると思う
ただ、逆に言うと「創作物」としてこの作品を鑑賞するとしらける部分は多々あるので、あくまで現実世界で起こったこととして作品に入り込めない人にはお勧めできない

また、ほかのレビュアーも書かれている通り作中の彼氏が本当に要らんことしかしない（誰がどう考えても「いや、その行動悪い結果しか呼ばないだろ」ということしかしない）ため終始イライラする羽目になり純粋に恐怖演出に入り込めなかったので星5ではなく星４（ぶっちゃけ最後彼氏がああなってスカッとしたけどもうちょい彼氏の行動理由が納得できるものだとよかったのでは・・・）

POVホラーの草分け的な作品。
公開初日に映画館で鑑賞したが、当時は大して面白いと思えなかった。
カメラ主観のホラーということならデベロッパー的な作品が以前にもあったし、
取り立てて新しいことをしているわけでも、練られたストーリーでもなかったからだ。
低予算映画なりの出来栄えでコンセプト優先……というかコンセプトオンリーの作品という印象だった。
しかし、改めて観てみるとそこまで悪い出来ではない作品と評価できた。

あらすじを簡単に書くと、
デイトレーダーの主人公が、同居するヒロインの身の回りでおこる怪奇現象を解明するために
カメラを設置して一部始終を記録するというもの、以上。
ネタバレを避けたわけではなく、本当にストーリーはこれ以上発展しない。

しかし、恐怖を演出することにおいてはまずまずで、
「これからホラーシーンが来るぞ」というわかりやすい演出を必ず敷設しつつも、
それによって視聴者の恐怖心を上手くあおっている。
実際劇中で起こる恐怖演出はありきたりなジャンプスケアが多いものの、
前述の演出のおかげで終盤まで垂れずに観ることができる。

一方で登場人物への感情移入は難しい。
特に主人公のミカは「やめろと言われたことを必ずし、やるべきことは絶対にしない」男だ。
デイトレーダーという職業柄なのか自分のカンや発想のみを善しとし、
ヒロインの願いや助言を求めた専門家の言うことには絶対にしたがわない。
ホラー映画にありがちな、「身勝手な主人公が自らの行いで事態を悪化させる」というメソッドの権化のような男で、怪奇現象よりも主人公の考え方の方が恐ろしいとさえ言える。
物語が進むにつれ、加速度的に事態を悪化させていく主人公に対して、
某エクソシストよろしく「その考え！人格が悪魔に支配されている！」と叫びたくなってしまう。

総評すると、ホラーを演出するということについてはなかなか上手く作られているが、
主人公にビックリするほど感情移入ができないため、人によってはシラけてしまうかもしれない作品。
とはいえ、上映時間を考えればさっくり見られてエンターテイメント性の高い一作といえるので、
ちょっと手軽にホラー見たいときにはいいかもしれない。

ちなみに私個人としては、第二章 tokyo night の方がおすすめなので、
そちらを見るための前座として見るのもいいだろう。

Count me among those who consider Paranormal Activity a brilliant scary movie. I can understand some people not liking the movie, but I don't see how anyone can get off saying there's no suspense or frightening material to be found here - methinks some just stop watching it within the first half hour and draw their opinions from that. Paranormal Activity is the Blair Witch Project of the early twenty-first century, maintaining a large degree of realism and constructing its scares on what the audience doesn't see. As H.P. Lovecraft once said, "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is Fear of the Unknown." Once you see the proverbial monster - no matter how frightening it might be - the fear level goes down because you know what you're dealing with. When you're threatened by the unknown, your imagination runs wild, flooding your system with more and more fear as the situation persists. Great horror writers know that less is more, and Paranormal Activity demonstrates this concept exceedingly well.

The story is actually pretty simple here. Katie (Katie Featherston) and her boyfriend Micah (Micah Sloat) are experiencing an escalating series of mysterious night-time frights (bangs, whispered voices, etc.). This type of haunting activity is no stranger to Katie, as she has experienced similar "hauntings" on and off since the age of eight. For poor dumb Micah, it's essentially an exciting game that he is all too eager to play. That is why he goes out and buys a video camera and recording equipment, hoping to catch some of the weird activity on film. While he may claim to believe his girlfriend in the beginning, he doesn't share or appreciate Katie's fears until events begin to spin out of control. This makes for an increasing amount of tension in the couple's lives, and that only adds to the atmosphere engendered by the paranormal events themselves. Micah and Katie do make for a believable couple, especially in their increasingly emotional reactions to one another. Ever the man, Micah dismisses the idea of ghosts or demons, treats the psychic Katie calls in with disdain, and insists over and over again that it is his house and that he will take care of the problem - despite the obvious fact that he has no idea what to do and that, in fact, everything he tries only makes the problem worse. Truth be told, Micah can be a real jerk at times.

The special effects are very low key yet effective. I think even the "this film wasn't scary" crowd would be a tad unnerved if they caught evidence of lights going off and on and doors moving by themselves in their very own homes - let alone saw and heard the things Katie and Micah go on to experience during their increasingly chaotic nights. Even the more elaborate effects toward the end look real using the home video camera technology this film employs to tell the entire story. It is astounding, given the film's fifteen thousand dollar budget. That's right - for less than the price of a new car, newcomer writer/director Oren Peli made a film that grossed well over one hundred million dollars. Obviously, he had to be doing something right here, and what he was doing was making one of the most surprisingly effective horror films to come along in years. I've seen Paranormal Activity numerous times already, and I'm more impressed each time I watch it.

I remember seeing the adverts for Paranormal Activity when it was first shown at the cinema and I thought "A door shutting on its own? Wow, now that looks really scary..." but I am pleased to say that I was totally wrong and by half way through this amazing film I was already watching with the lights now turned right on and was already on the edge of the sofa hooked with fear. I am glad to say that I was very wrong and Paranormal Activity, this low budget surprise is the best horror film I have seen for a long time and most likely the scariest film ever made.

The plot follows a young couple who purchase a camera to investigate the strange goings on that seem to have followed the young woman ever since she was young. Throughout the film we see these events through the cameras eyes and soon learn that there is indeed something very sinister going on. For me you can tell a good scary film from a bad one by how long it affects you after the credits start to roll, and this is one horror that stayed with me for a very long time after the end. The secret to why this film is so good is that it plays on the little fears we all have, a creaking door, sounds that you can't quite explain, your eyes playing tricks on you, and its these little things that haunt the film and really helps give it a believable and chilling atmosphere which I have rarely seen in any other horrors. Unlike many modern day horrors which use blood, violence and gore to achieve its scares Paranormal Activity uses its eerie sights and sounds to create a chilling experience which I believe is the sigh of a superior horror. I have to mention that the last few minutes in particular gave me the biggest chills I had ever felt whist watching a horror before. (Be warned, don't watch all of the trailers... one gives away one of the biggest moments in the film! Don't worry if you have seen it though, for there are many more shocks in store...)

What also surprised me about this film was the strength of the two lead characters, Micah and his haunted girlfriend Kati, and how over the course of the film you really get to know and care about the young couple and their fight against this terrifying entity (Though there are several times in which you really feel like slapping Mika for being such an idiot...) The small cast of the two leads and a few rarely seen supporting acts all do a great job, with Katie Featherstone especially impressive as the tortured Katie, and it's this that helps give the film a very natural feel to it.

Whilst seeing the film through a camera in first person view is quite a common technique used now a days in horrors, this film uses it very effectively and helps make the film as shocking as it is even if it adds little that is really new to the technique.

At the time of writing there is already a sequel out on DVD with a third being in production. If you enjoyed this film then you will almost certainly enjoy Paranormal Activity 2, which is a great horror and a worthy sequel even if it is an overall weaker film that does boast less shocks but is still a good horror in its own rights and helps to show that the Paranormal Activity franchise may hopefully be one which may continue and not lose its way like some horror franchise do when they gain successes (Yes, I am looking at you Saw...)

All in all, this is a fantastic horror that any horror fan must see but be warned, it certainly will leave a lasting and very chilling impression...

Ich habe mir gestern abend Paranormal Activity (DVD, Verleih-Version) angesehen und war danach erstmal echt bedient. Seit Martyrs gab keinen Film, nachdem ich erstmal eine Zeit brauchte, um wieder runter zu kommen. Wie viele hier schon geschrieben haben, erzielt Paranormal Activity mit wenig Aufwand eine enorm hohe Wirkung.

Katie und Micah wohnen in einem kleinen Haus am Rande von San Diego. Da Katie seit ihrer Kindheit offenbar das Übersinnliche anzieht, beschließen die beiden die Ereignisse, die sich in ihrem Haus abspielen, mit einer Videokamera zu dokumentieren. In den ersten Nächten hört man hier und da etwas poltern, Schritte, die die Treppenstufen rauf kommen oder Türen, die sich bewegen. Eigentlich ganz harmlos. Allerdings steigert sich der Spuk von Nacht zu Nacht, bis hin zum starken Finale. Denn, wie sich herausstellen wird, ist der Geist/Dämon den beiden nicht wohl gesonnen.

Zugeben, die Tag-Szenen sind teilweise etwas belanglos und teilweise auch recht uninteressant, lassen einen aber wieder etwas runter kommen, denn die Nachtszenen sind teilweise sehr beklemmend, gruselig und mit einigen derben Schocks versehen. Ich hatte das ein oder andere mal, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes, die Nackenhaare zu Berge stehen und dabei bin ich nicht wirklich der Schreckhafteste (meine Frau war auch ein wenig überrascht, dass ich bei einem Film mal zusammen gezuckt bin). Die beiden, mir unbekannten, Schauspieler machen ihre Sache übrigens sehr gut und spielen sehr überzeugend.

Die 20.000,00 USD teure Low-Budget-Produktion ist komplett mit der Handkamera gedreht und wie ein Dokumentarfilm aufgebaut. Er schlägt demnach optisch und erzählerisch in die gleiche Kerbe wie z. B. Blair Witch Project, Rec. oder Cloverfield. Dementsprechend dürft Ihr natürlich keine Hochglanz-HD-Optik erwarten. Ich denke mal, auf den Kauf, der etwas teureren Blu-Ray kann man verzichten. Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen das bei der Blu-Ray richtiges HD-Feeling rüber kommt.

Akkustisch spielt der Film seine Stärken aus. Der Dialog-Ton ist zwar komplett frontal, ein weing blechern und kein wenig räumlich (wirkt aber realistischer, da der Sound zur Videokamera passt), allerdings kommen die Soundeffekte, wenn der Geist/Dämon auftaucht aus allen Möglichen Richtungen (meist aber aus den hinteren Lautsprechern). Auf Musik wird vollkommen verzichtet. Stattdessen wird die unheimlich dichte Atmosphäre der Nachtszenen durch ein leichtes Brummen begleitet und zwar immer dann, wenn der Geist/Dämon auftaucht.

Fazit: Wer sich auf Paranormal Activity einlässt, bekommt einen wirklich gut gemachten und realistisch anmutenden Gruselfilm geboten. Der Film bietet eine sehr dichte Atmosphäre und baut die Spannung von Nacht zu Nacht, bis zum sehr guten Finale immer weiter auf. Ich kann diesen Film jedem ans Herz legen, der sich mal wieder richtig gruseln will. Verdunkelt den Raum, legt Cola, Bier, Chips oder ähnliches zur Seite und lasst diesen Film auf Euch wirken. Seine Wirkung wird Euch bestimmt nicht verfehlen ;-)
